Dangerous Dogs
Attached are dangerous dogs that are banned under UK law and if you see anything looking similar, report it to your local Police station or via www.lancashire.police.uk or if not local, use www.police.uk:
Japanese Tosa The breed is thought to have first emerged after the 1850s when the Japanese Shikoku Inu was crossed with European dogs. The aim was to create a bigger fighting dog. In traditional Japanese dog fights tosas would "wrestle" each other and the fights followed similar rules to those of sumo wrestling. http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl...dogs/img/1.jpg Dogo Argentino The breed was developed in Argentina after the 1920s from the now extinct Cordoba Fighting Dog and was intended to be a hunting dog. They were specifically bred to avoid the aggression of Cordoba Fighting Dogs while hunting. They are used today for tracking, search and rescue and general police work. http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl...dogs/img/2.jpg Fila Brasileiro The Fila Brasileiro is thought to have been developed from a number of breeds, including the mastiff, the bulldog, and the bloodhound. They were originally found on farms and plantations and were reportedly used to track Brazilian slaves and fugitives. They are renowned for their aggression towards strangers. http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl...dogs/img/3.jpg Pit bull terrier The breed was originally bred to take part in bull-baiting, a gambling "game" where they attacked bulls in pits. When the practice was banned in 1835 they were then bred for dog-fighting. They were bred to be aggressive with a high pain threshold, but they were not trained to be aggressive towards humans. http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl...dogs/img/4.jpg |

"They are used today for tracking, search and rescue and general police work. "
Does that mean we have to report them if we see them being used by the police? |

Re: Dangerous Dogs
But don't report any suspected dangerous dogs to this Police Force:

This old cookie again.
Also as well as the mentioned breeds. Report any STRAY DOGS you see walking around even if they arnt A KILLER BREED as they are also a HUGH DANGER to public safty. I would also reccommend that ANYONE who sees a motorist driving possibly over 35Mph report it to the police also. |

If that had been a member of the public causing a dog to die in such horrendous curcumstances they'd have been prosecuted and rightly so. |

How can they of Forgot about a dog, I mean It must of been going mental, lucky it lasted 10 days if they didnt even give it water. Discracefull. The above list of dog makes me laugh really. Lets list a few Legal Dogs. Rotweiller Great Dane Bull Mastiff Neapolitan Mastiff Irish Wolfhound. German Sheapard Dog De Bordo Dobermains Lurchers Staf Bull Terriers English Bull Terriers Boxer Labrador IMO the above dogs are just as likely to cause injury or even death to a human in the wrong circumstances. Targeting Certain Breeds is silly really, ALL breed should be treated equally. Education is the better answer. |
Re: Dangerous Dogs
Ban all dogs over 12" high & 18" long. And remove all teeth from Dautchounds:D I've gone of to work in the early hours only to spot a stray mutt of imposing size & physique further up the road on a few occassions. No traffic or people about so i'm up **** creek if one goes for the jugular:eek: A dog curfew is what we need....all dogs indoors between 9pm & 9am,and then in a seperate room from the chidren in the house.I know it'll never work & there'd be a public outcry, but just athought.

Re: Dangerous Dogs
Does this mean that any out after curfew are to be shot? What if they are out after curfew with their owner because their owner is a shift worker?

I know that feeling when on shifts. I sometimes wish I could shoot them. Mind you think the same about some of the neighbours. |

A Yorkie in a vase is for life, not just for Valentine's Day.

Re: Dangerous Dogs
There's another story in the paper today of a terrier of some sort biting a child's face - the parents saying it's a lovely dog really and adores the kids!

That Pit Bull Terrier can’t be all that dangerous. Someone has blackened it’s eye.

Re: Dangerous Dogs
I got bit by a dog up coppice playin' footy couple of months before xmas. Guy with the dog said it was a neighbours so I let it slip being in a bit of shock after being bitten. Feel guilty now 'cos if it was a little kid it went after and not me it could've been a lot worse.

Re: Dangerous Dogs
Does the lass who owns the "kinky" shop qualify as one?:D
|
Re: Dangerous Dogs
Well looks like there has been a bit of over reaction over this. I was taking a look online at the obo and read about the 2 animals found dead in the sewage system at Gt Harwood. This is not only sad but sick!!!
|
Re: Dangerous Dogs
I think that this is a stupid idea. reporting supposedly dangerous breeds, dog amnesties etc... ALL breeds have the potential to bite, in fact ALL animals can be dangerous. My sister's hamster once bit me and made a right mess of my finger:D
The problems are not with the dogs, they are with the owners. We have a lot of dangerous owners out there who either train their dogs to attack or don't bother training them at all. The police force who let the Greyhound starve to death should have been prosecuted..... |
Re: Dangerous Dogs
You didnt have it put down as a dangerous animal I hope.
