I.D.Thieft

I watched a program on BBC1 last night on ID Thieft and it has made me wonder if anyone on here have a shredder and use it on a regular basis.

We have 2 shredders one is a strip shredder the other is a crosscut but must admit we dont use them that much,
but after watching the program and just how easy it was to loose your ID i will be using it more in the future:eek:

Also what will they say when they try to empty the recycle paper and find it full of confetti:)

We shred everything except newspapers, and put it out with newspapers on re-cycle day so far no one has bothered, cannot see it should matter paper is paper shredded or not.

I think I read somewhere you are not to put shredded paper in the white sack: I work from home and for years now have used a shredder: I use some of my paper for packaging when I sell stuff on ebay: and also for pet bedding:

I have for nearly a year now & had no probs its still taken away, at the end of the day it is still paper & u would think it shredded that it would be easier for recycyling:rolleyes:

I shred everything with personal details on but I've also heard that you're not supposed to put shredded paper out for re-cycling... I don't really see why not, except that it may be messy getting it into the wagon.

I watched the programme last night. It is scary how easy it is to steal someone's details... I couldn't believe that people were chucking out paper with their full bank or credit card details on.

Re: I.D.Thieft

see if they gave us proper recycling bins: one for paper , one for tins, one for glass and one for general rubbish: four bins they could empty one a week and life would be so much easier: but no we have play at dolly's houses with a little box for this and sack for that:

the words Party and brewery come to mind with any mention of HBC :

oh and I am not sure if they took my christmas tree , but some one did: and I had made a bird feeder thing out of it , there it was in my front garden with a feast on for the birds:

Re: I.D.Thieft

I was a victim of fraud about 4 years ago - it was a local petrol garage that has since closed. They swiped my card twice (without me noticing) then sold my details on. That person, or people, then proceeded to buy about £3 grands worth of stuff on my credit card - tv's, sofa, hi-fi's etc. Fortunately my card company called me to ask when I had last used it, it took a while but eventually it got sorted and didnt leave me out of pocket.

Same sorta thing happened to my fella too a while back, but his was his switch card so the money they were spending was coming straight out of his bank. He too got it back - eventually - but was worse as he was out of pocket for a while.

We shread all our bills and everything now - give the shredding to my guinea pig.
