This morning someone asked me for directions.
I was waiting for a bus at the top of Ormerod Street - a car came up, drove round the roundabout and then pulled up by the bus stop.
The driver asked me if I could tell him where to find Scaitcliffe House. I pointed down the road and told him it was at the bottom on the other side. He didn't seem prepared to believe me. He said he'd got a map that showed it on the other side but when he'd been to the place the arrow pointed to it wasn't there. I asked if he could see a building with a pink painted side. He said he could. I assured him that was Scaitcliffe House. "Oh" he replied. "The map doesn't show it being that far down!" I asked where he'd got the map - Hyndburn Council Website! I've just been looking at the site and wonder if this was the map he'd been looking at. It does seem a bit out with it's arrow. |

*L*
i think the prob with these new up and coming map websites is that if u put in the postcode it finds a certain point - usually in the middle and arrows it clearly thats what happened here |
Re: This morning someone asked me for directions.
It's one HBC produce on their lovely website to show people how to find the council offices. Maybe they should have checked it out first.

Re: This morning someone asked me for directions.
I used to get asked quite often when I walked the streets - when I had a young baby in a buggy who needed rocking to sleep, before you start Chav! - and I was crap at it. I used to try really hard to get it right but afterwards always realised that I'd sent them in completely the wrong direction.

One of my classic booboos is to tell people to turn right whilst pointing to the left! :o

Cashy's mind is one track just like most of the fellas on here Gayle - what you asking for is miracles of one of the sane people to ask why you were walking the streets - me i know you will have been canvassing - done it too many times! lol

Re: This morning someone asked me for directions.
I have been asked for directions off people that have a web based map print off of were to go. Sadley forget to print of a map of a scale that allows them to navigate once in the general area.

What was it Freud said about people saying what they actually wanted as opposed to what actually happened? Let face it Gayle, you could have said "whilst trying to get my baby to sleep by pushing him in the pram" and no one would have made a single comment! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D |
Re: This morning someone asked me for directions.
I was stopped and asked for directions yesterday, first time in ages, anyway I sent him the correct way, lots of use of the hands though.
