The actress Anna Nicole Smith has died in Florida at the age of 39.
The former Playboy Playmate and billionaire's widow collapsed in a hotel room and died later, according to her lawyer.
"I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," Ms Smith's lawyer, Ronald Rale, told reporters.
"I don't know anything further. (Her lawyer and husband) Howard (K. Stern) obviously is speechless and grieving."
She was found in her hotel room and given CPR by fire and rescue workers, said Michael Bloom, president of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Ms Smith's nurse called hotel workers at the hotel at 1.38pm local time and security went to the hotel room, hotel officials added.
Emergency staff arrived minutes later and she was taken to the Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood at 2:10pm.
Her son Daniel, 20, died in tragic circumastances last year while visiting his mother in the hospital where Ms Smith had given birth three days before.

Quite right, Mel, definitely my motto too, but I think that some of you lot are being a bit tight on the poor lass. She might have made a few boobs in her life, but she made an old man very happy. ;)

I don't know why but I always really liked her. Maybe it was the fact that she was like a thirties starlet, beauty being her only real talent.

Perhaps because I always support the under dog, I really wanted her to win the court battle for fortune left to her by her ninety year old husband, when it was contested by his son. For goodness sake, the old man died happy, let her have the money. Money she eventually won, but which didn't seem to bring much happiness.

Just reading her orbituaries, her life has been one roller coaster. Born into Texan poverty. Playboy centre fold. Reality tv star. I was also sad to read that her twenty year old son died of a drugs overdose, when in his mother's hospital room, whilst visiting her new baby, in September last year. There is a paternity suit looming as to the paternity of the poor baby, who is now the sole heir to a couple of hundred million dollar fortune. Who said soap operas were far fetched?

Anna Nicole, you may have not won a noble prize or brought about world peace, but you were very beautiful, and I liked you, and thirty nine is too young for anybody to die.

Death in someone so young is sad and should be a warning to others in that sort of situation. Ironic that all that money never really brought her happiness just a lot of law suits and agro. So in a way I believe that she has now got the peace she wanted.

Oh the poor baby. Theres a paternity enquiry pending at the moment. But at least its between two men that actually want to be the father. They are both very rich and in good jobs so I hope whoever it is gives the poor little mite the best start in life, because she certainly deserves it. Its just a good thing shes too young to know whats going on. I agree with Garinda, I liked her aswell.

RIP Anna, at least shes with her son now.

Its too easy to shoot someone down for the life they had and the mistakes they made when they are dead as they cannot defend themselves. Are those that are taking potshots and muck raking the hight of respectability and perfection? Her child should be the focus now so that he grows up nowing his mother was a real person and not someone who was in the eyes of some a monster.

Can't say I am massively surprised or even upset by this news;she was a bit of a "train wreck" personality;not especialy talented at acting or presenting and really only famous for her (artificially) large chest and snaring some coffin dodger. It's sad for the baby not just the loss of her mum but the impact that it will have on her later life;orpaned heiresses rarely amount to much especially with this kind of background. The comparisons to Marilyn are somewhat laughable though;Marilyn was a talented and beautiful comedic actress and audiences laughed with her not at her. That and the fact that Marilyn obviously didn't die by her own hand are the major differences.
Hope Anna Nicole rests in peace;she deserves that at least.

just in that the coroner cannot find the cause of death but says that drugs where NOT the cause, because there was none in her stomach, will take up to 5 weeks to find out, because of tests!

That doesn't discount injected drugs though which would only show in a blood sample, still think its sad.

Very difficult to spot fine needle pricks, it was reported that she was taking anti-depressants, thats assuming it is suicide and a drug OD, I suppose there's lots of other ways to do it.

revealed that Anna Nicole Smith died from an accidental drugs overdose

a dose of the sleeping medication chloral hydrate "tipped the balance". Chloral hydrate is a sedative used to treat insomnia and alcohol withdrawal, relieve anxiety and ease post-surgery pain. A bacterial infection from injecting medication in her buttocks and a viral infection contributed to her death, the autopsy report said.
