See It Like A Baby

My favouritest ever band in the whole wide world :D are due for releasing a new single on the 26th march called See It Like A Baby. It has the usual inspiring lyrics that makes me love this band so much.

Basically the lyrics are 'remember how good those first experiences were'. The feeling of falling in love for the first time. The first time something excited you as kid. The time you got that new job, the first time you kissed, the first time you got drunk, the first time you had sex. Your wedding day ........

What would be the one experience you'd love another go at, to be able to see it like a baby?

Not from here it wont be.

Marillion Maiden Whitsnake etc is still to me real music. They always have a good show for their fans and to me cant be beaten. Very few so called modern bands come close.

Sounds like you had a ball cherokee!! :D ... You managed to even keep on the impromtu thread wander with it being a rock concert! :D

Couldn't agree more Spug, these guys have been in the business long enough to know it inside out and still produce great music. They probably won't be able to snare the younger music generation but they'll always have their hard core fans.

She's a lost cause spug :D

I've given up trying to convert people, it's each to there own. Me, I like my music to be written and sung from the soul ....... not just because some crappy record company has paid thousands to have a radio friendly single/album on their desk by a certain date.

Don't know anything about the band you are discussing Tinks, but get your point. Unfortunately first experiences as mentioned aren't always the best, usually improves as times go along e.g. :-

. Falling in love for the 1st time .. bloody hurts, can't sleep, concentrate, wondering constantly if your love is reciprocated and then possible final hurt as you may be cast aside. ... no improves as one learns to shed off these annoyances and enjoy being in love linked with common sense and being realistic.

. First kiss: Usually out in the bloody cold and not knowing which way to position this exercise ... bruised lips, chipped tooth if unlucky .. no improves with experience.

. First time you got drunk: Whizzy head, stomach churning, loss of control to finally vomiting contents of stomach and wasted well-earned money down back alley, taxi or pub toilet .. no improves with hard earned lessons.

.First time you had sex: only women will know that it is not particularly pleasant for physical reasons, exciting maybe, but ... no improves with experience.

. Wedding Day: Only been married the once, but in today's society sure lots of people will agree, in retrospect not the best experience and .. no improves each time you do it... :D

The list could go on .. problem is you can't look back on these things as first time is never the best experience. Like they say 'Old head on young shoulders' 'If I knew what I know now'

Nothing I would like to experience first time again, sorry. ;)

OK, I'm going to throw one out there then. I know for certain reasons like post natal depression that some mothers don't feel it ...... but that over whelming feeling of love and pride with your first born. Yes siblings born after are just as special but it's something about that feeling with your first born.

Guy's can get "that over whelming feeling of love and pride with your first born" as well. I know I did. :o :D

Ok .. was just looking at the points you made Tinks on the lyrics .. slightly different catergory I think.... me? had the same feeling with my second (as you say just as special) as with my first. there again 17 years apart .. but don't think quite what the song was talking about really, do you ?

accymel 13-02-2007 21:56

Re: See It Like A Baby

You can still have the experience of 'that' feeling without having to go thro birth again [seem to remember doing that the 1st time was rather um painful more than subsequent one]:D

Not sure Kate, your probably right, it's only my interpretations of the lyrics ... I could be miles off but I read them as new experiences and feelings you never want to forget. Like back to basics pure human emotional feelings ..... and there's nothing more emotional than that feeling for me.

I can see were your coming from though, see it like a baby could mean the inquisitive side of things. Exploring everything new.

katex 13-02-2007 22:25

Re: See It Like A Baby

Perhaps me bringing out my cyncical side .. haven't heard all the song so not really sure what they are getting at .. well, probably they think 'experiences without emotions' as you state, although they are more laced with emotions 1st time, but the subjects mentioned do get better with practice I think ....;) :D

Tinkerbelle 13-02-2007 22:37

Re: See It Like A Baby

Everyone interprets lyrics different I suppose. For example they have a song Uninvited Guest:

You may not recall the moment that you asked me
But your invitation was clear
You'll pretend you've never met me but it's far to late
Now I'm here
Cause I'm the one who knows what scares you
I'm the one who loves you best
I'm the thirteenth at the table
I'm the uninvited guest
I'm the Banquo at your banquet
I'm the cuckoo in your nest
I'm your fifteen-stone first-footer
I'm the uninvited guest

I was there when you said insincere "I love you's"
To a woman who wasn't your wife
And I fronted you the money
That you ran away and blew
On the biggest regret of your life

Cause I'm the one who knows what scares you
I'm the who loves you best
I'm the thirteenth at the table
I'm the uninvited guest
I'm the Banquo at your banquet
I'm the cuckoo in your nest
I'm your New Year's resolution
I'm the uninvited guest

I'm the face you hoped you'd never see
But always knew you would
I'm the one thing you knew you shouldn't do
But did because you could

I would have sworn those lyrics were a play on words regarding 'conscience'. Mthead said nooo it's about the banished ex front man Fish ... turns out we were both wrong it's about AIDS

Shall we just call it artistic licence? :D
