No - this world needs all the romance it can get
Don't be such a misery !!

Re: Valantines day. Should we just forget it?

If you're single, it just reminds you of it, and also of your failed relationships in the past.

If you're in love with someone, you have to shell out shedloads of money to tell them something that they know anyway

If you're with someone, but not in love, then it is just plain awkward, and you'll end up just as out of pocket

The catholic church had a clearout of dodgy saints in 1969 one of whom was St Valentine.

Doesn't really stack up as a day worth celebrating does it , it's initials are probably more appropriate... Happy VD :D

Re: Valantines day. Should we just forget it?

The romance and mystery of a Valentine’s card has been taken over by commercialism.

The real problem is that most people have forgotten the original purpose of a St Valentine’s Day card.

Valentine cards with or without a gift were supposed to be anonymous with maybe a small clue as to who sent it.

Re: Valantines day. Should we just forget it?

Forget it at your own risk !!!

I was greeted this morning with some flowers and a lovely card from Tony who never ever remembers anything... christmas, birthday, anniversary cards etc...

Imagine the shock on my face the moment I remembered it was valentines day.... just as I walked into the kitchen to find the flowers and card on the table and I had no present in return :o :o He just sat there grinning at me like I was joking...

Now, He's just so happy that he remembered something. I forgot & He didn't. Just my Luck :)

Oh well another 18 years of him reminding me!!!!. (Theres a story behind that remark.)...When we met 18 years ago, (1 week before his birthday.) 1 week!!!, I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he told me not to buy him anything... so I didn't and to this day he still goes on about it...

The things I have to put up with ;) :D

But I wouldn't have things any other way...

Love You Tony :foryou:

Do you forgive me now ;)

tip of the day

Just do what you women usually do at a time like this, accuse him of having a guilty conscience, it will make him totally frustrated because he knows he can't win and gives you that sense of satisfaction because he will then spend the rest of the year trying to make up for something that he hasn't done wrong!

tis Jen here - hijacked laneys comp at the min

I havent got a card or flowers or choccies either. Werent expecting one either.

What gets me is 2weeks ago the price of red roses £5 for a bunch if that. 3 days ago the price goes up all because of valentines day. I always buy a bunch of red roses and put them on my dads grave because he died on the 12th - and whats the difference in a couple of days?

Well I don't have a husband or a boyfriend right now... but that's not the point :)

It makes single people feel errrrr more single if you have a day just for romance: moan moan moan :) :) ;) :) :)

Was just expecting the token gesture as we are both a bit brassic at the moment [hurry up with the redundancy money already!] but oh no! What is this ? An expensive bottle of bubbly and a voucher to have my nails done ! Rushes off to rethink pressie ! Nice aftershave should do the trick!
Thanks Paul !!! With the posh nails I can't possibly wash up,or muck the rabbit out !

Re: Valantines day. Should we just forget it?

I've got it tough because V day is my birthday : ( Tonight for instance all my mates are with their significant others. It's a slightly strange, almost ordinary night.

On the subject of V day: I would always avoid dining out due to all the restauarants being overfilled. Plus I find that the service is usually rushed and much poorer : ( I would choose somewhere quiet & secluded where the romance would be more meaningful.

Do you think the new highest suicide rate, on a specific day, is going to be amongst us singles feeling depressed cause we didn't get any attention ..

Shillelagh: stop bragging :p :D

I got text asking me where his Valentine's card was .. OK, where's me bunch of Roses then? Needless to say never saw even a thorn...

Saddest thing was, during E-Mail conversation with 24 year old son, sent throw-away post-script with "Did you send anyone special any roses today?" (Mothers have got to know these things you understand)' Reply was " Nope, not sent anybody any roses. It's just Wednesday" Have I failed miserably as a Mother, and not trained him proper ? :(
