The BRIT Awards

Well have just watched it and once again I'm saying I'm not watching it again.

Not all of us like just guitar bands (Killers, Snow Patrol, Muse etc.) They've cut 3 awards, Best British Pop, Best British Urban & Best British Dance. Therefore alienating half of the British Music Industry. Tonight with the exception of Scissor Sisters, Take That & Amy Winehouse it was dire!!! And Russell Brand is a total prat!

Also they didnt show all of Oasis' set at the end. They know it always overruns so why not allow for that in the TV schedule.

I think it should be renamed the Bitch Awards ...... god so many bitchy comments ..... most of them from that ponce Russel Bland! I hate him!

Scissors Sisters and Snow Patrol were class though.

It actually followed on on ITV 2

Didnt know it was following on because the programme started at 10.30pm on ITV2. I was bored with it by that point anyway.:Banane39:

Lolly, not really in today's bands, etc., was in the kitchen preparing my tea when this came on .. could only hear the opening number and wondered who the 'off-key' singer was .. went to look .. excellent effects, was that really the Scissor Sisters who made that excellent record, thought it was a woman. Couldn't sing live for toffee apple.

The presenter, a wannabe Pirate of the 'whatever' take-off .. love your description of him .. was just the correct adverb.

After five minutes of watching these twit (including Americans  ) celebrities accepting their awards, just had to turn over to another programme.

Unfortunately Relocation, Relocation, couple who finished up with house just under half a million and get-away in Spain, well over £100,000 .. was I born too early ? Get real.

It was Scissor Sisters yes, and I think they are quite good live. Its not easy to sing live when dancing so much. Anyway they were the only ones who made an effort. Why they didnt win an award I dont know. What I'm naffed off about mostly is loosing the other awards how are great dance acts such as Basement Jaxx going to win anything now??

They were miming. Got to be either that or they are at the same level of athletes.

Re: The BRIT Awards

Dont think they were totally miming. Ive seen them on tour and trust me they've no need to. I do think that they were heavily backed up though.

Nowt much interesting for me either. Was mostly channel surfing. I chuckled though when Brand said that Amy Winehouse had the best singing voice in the world, but when she talked she sounded like a cab driver! Sure enough she won an award and OMG she could be a london cabbie!

It's a massive industry funded back slap. Scarily it's supposed to reward new talent and those that have got the balls and temerity to hang on in this God forsaken business. Russell Brand is just the latest celebrity jock;and handily on the night he had someone just as vacuous as himself in the form of Amy Winehouse to bounce his "jokes" off. The real talent prevails every year,Scissor Sisters,Snow Patrol,Take That,Killers etc. Yet we still have to endure the pillocks like Winehouse and assorted Gallaghers trying to string a sentence together;much as I loathe the whole thing I was happy to see Nelly Furtado win over Lily Allen;she speaks better English !

I haven't watched it since Michael Jackson was Jesus ministering to the kiddies, and Jarvis showed his arse.

Caught the last few minutes of those two Hamstead luvies, pretending to be extras from Shameless, and realised how unattractive middle aged men are whilst trying to pull off a look of youthful disdain.

I would have enjoyed it more if Russell Brand was not the presenter. I cannot stand his sexual innuendoes, he has a warped sense of humour.Apart from that I liked most of the winners.

Re: The BRIT Awards

Well to say it was live!! I think it went quite well ( apart from sounding like they were singing under water at some stages).

Can't believe the likes of scissor sisters, Amy WH , and snow patrol didn't win more things.......but then thats what it's all about.......people choice.

[QUOTE=Lolly;383707] Its not easy to sing live when dancing so much. OTE]

Try telling a West End musical star this ... their contract would be terminated without notice .. Simon Cowell would have had a ball.

Was the opening number, which is quite scary, is the only excuse I can offer for not singing one note on key, and quite nerve-wracking, however, must have sung this song live many times and no excuse I am afraid.. :(

Re: The BRIT Awards

The Brits don't actually mean anything. It's only for the telly.
I thought Russel Brand was hilarious, he brought what British pop culture has needed for at least 10 years - a good kick up the arse with a large dose of vulgarity attatched to the boot.
