Life’s Little Pleasures

I’m a bit surprised that after the “Life’s Little Annoyances” thread it didn’t trigger an opposite thought from someone. So as it hasn't, here goes!

To be really worthwhile as one of life’s little pleasures I think that it should be free.

To wake up after a night’s sleep. It means that I’m still alive.
To watch the spring flowers bud and bloom in all their glory.
To hear the morning chorus.

Lifes little pleasures......a good cup of tea, a little lie in, a good book, and a bacon butty...not necessarily in that order.

Siobhans smile in a morning

a 'good' ride on my motorbike

knowing just how fortunate we(Julie, Siobhan and me) are

a few years ago I was on a leadership course at Barclays in Northampton, there were 'optional' sessions, one of which was hypnotherapy with a view to using it to reduce stress and encourage relaxation. I went as I'm interested in this sort of thing

<cue: whale music, reduced lighting etc>

"I want you to imagine....

Your in a garden...........

You can smell the flowers around you....

the birds are singing.............

the sun is shining................

you can hear a stream babbling over rocks as it makes its way to its destination..............."

I almost said, you forgot the glass of wine in my hand and the squirrels playing in the flower bed! thats what I do most summer nights when I get home from work!!!!

What amazed me is that I was probably the most 'junior' person there yet these highly paid people had absolutely no idea what it was like to come home and relax 'properly'

I'm lucky I am............................................

Small pleasures - watching my cat jumping all over the place as he chases his feathered toy.

The sound of my 7 year old granddaughter's laughter when she really has understood the joke.

A visit from my 21 year old grandson when he's home from Uni.

The feel of our cat's fur as she rubs herself against my bare legs first thing in a morning.

A very occasional fresh cream éclaire, with a cup of coffee.

I love those mornings in early spring when the air is still crisp but the sun is shining and the sky is blue and there's the promise of a lovely day, trees are just beginning to show signs of life and the world looks like it's yawning, stretching and waking up from a winter sleep.

Seeing the Daffodillys in full bloom. I love the spring.
Henry the works Cat. He never forgets me even though I only work once a week.

Sitting in a busy Crown at 5'o'clock on a Saturday, pint in hand, waiting for the next Manchester bus and basking in the warm glow of a Stanley home win.

I wonder if I'll ever have that feeling again? :(

The sound of Ellies laughter
Robert (4 months) giving me his biggest smile
Relaxing in the garden and having time to read which doesn't happen often these days.
Walking Ellie to school to the sound of the birds singing which happened yesterday morning and it was lovely.
