Could'nt believe this snippet from this mornings press.Over the next 2 years the government is to spend £56 million of tax payers money,developing new gyspsy sites & sprucing up existing ones.
Do you think your & mine hard earned taxes should be spent like this?How long before they'd be back to their original state?I would'nt mind too much but i don't think there are a lot of them who actually pay income tax.I think this government still sees the gypsy as some little old dear selling lucky heather & clothes pegs .

I dont agree with that at all, I know not all gypsies are trouble makers but they certainly have enough of their own money should they wish to spruce up their own sites.

I remember when we were on holiday at the cala gran,many years ago .We were having a drink at lunchtime in the i,c,i,club in Fleetwood ,when an irate farmer came in absolutely livid .the jypsies had got up at the crack of dawn and milked all his cows ,, it was hard not to laugh ,but it was his livlihood and he had to explain to customers ,that there was no milk for their breakfast ...

Not all travelling people are bad, some of my best mates are travellers,
so they dont pay tax, who on this site would pay it if they could avoid it

At least the hoses in accy most contain people who pay tax. But with gypos they just dont give a toss about anything that isnt theres.

The difference being they purposely seperate themselves from the rest of society, making no contribution, now if what Panther says is correct and they dont even pay council tax then I dont think they should be given anything.

if you cant afford to maintain your own home then dont buy one , sory but i dont agree that house owners should get tax payers money to improve their house and add value which makes them money

areas of blackburn road have been renovated twice because the first time they got teh grants they didnt look after them and let the buildings run down agian

as for the gypos

screw them they make enough money and if the 14 year olds can afford to drive new transit vans they must have plenty of money

just off charter street there is a ruined childrens play area where for teh past few months some travelers have been living and you shoudl see teh crap thats been left behind

It seems alot of folk are blaming travellers for what tinkers are doing.

not really we're blaming the ones who travel or stay put on government funded sites (sorry taxpayer funded) who make no contribution to the system yet take everything they can get leave the place (wherever it may be) in a pigsty and have absolutely no regard for the hardworking people that are paying for them to have such a life.

You would be surprised how many times that happens willow. It's happened to my hubby. They think they can do what they like, when they like. I know quite a few taxi drivers that won't pick any gypsy's up, and quite frankly I don't blame them. 9 out of 10 times you are faced with abuse or none payment of taxi's.:mad:

I don't think that this should be done at taxpayer's expense. I remember what a mess Aldi was left in, I think it was nearly 2 years ago but may have been longer. Rubbish all over the car park which some poor beggar then had to clean up:(

sorry i agree with moonshiner, theres good and bad in them, used to drink in the royal up ossy when i was young and 2 of the families from the site behind the palladium were always in fri-sun nights from daughters to grandmothers, they were lovely people and a few times booked and paid for a taxi to take a very drunken cashy back to accy. for me some folk have tunnel vision and only see or are aware of the scumbags.:rolleyes:

I was in a boozer a while back & all the women where in with their kids.The kids were running riot in the pub,running around,lifting drinks,cadging money,jumping infront of the TV....there must have been around ten or so.When one bloke complained,as the landlord did'nt seem bothered,one of the mothers:rolleyes: called him a paedo and to *****n drink somewhere else:eek: Iremember thinking,in ten years or so these kids are going to be dangerous.It seems when they go anywhere en masse they can do as they please ..

There's good and bad, just the same as everyone else.

There are a few Gypsy families in Ossy that have been here at least forty odd years that I know. I went to primary school with some of them, and they were a lovely family, and very much part of the wider community.

The solution to this in my opinion, is to allocate and sell or lease the land to the Travellers and let them regulate it themslves, as they do in Moscow Mill St. This way it would be hopefully kept clean and tidy. I am quite sure the Travelling Community know who the 'bad apples' are and would soon turn them away, the only stumbling block to this idea is where? NIMBY.
