Re: Holidays
I go to Malta twice a year and this year I am taking my granddaughter, just the 2 of us, in July. She's been 3 times before but this will be the first time without her mum - she's 7. I don't usually go in high Summer but am confined to school holidays with Laura. Fortunately she and I are both OK with very hot weather and both tan easily (and safely, I'm very very careful). I'm due to retire, fully, at the end of the year and am thinking of taking off somewhere a bit further afield to celebrate my freedom but I don't know where yet.

Re: Holidays
malta is a lovely place
we wen't there for our honeymoon although i didn't feel there was a great deal for children maybe i'm wrong westender if you can shed some light i'd be grateful as i would love to go back but the need for child friendly holidays is priority |
Re: Holidays
Never book anywhere without looking on trip adviser. If it gets overall bad reviews we don't go there.
|
Re: Holidays
still you never know what somewhere is like untill you've been and experienced it for yourself

I think it depends what your children like to do, Jedimaster. I always stay in the North of the island, Mellieha Bay or Paradise Bay, where the sandy beaches are. The 2 hotels I use both have beautiful swimming pools and both are beside the beach, have boat trips nearby and water sports. That's enough for Laura and was the same for my grandson (he's now 21 - too old to come away with me) who both love swimming. Apart from the Water Park, near St Georges, there aren't many things aimed specifically at children but a lot of the hotels have Kids Clubs, which helps. Lancsdave, if I believed every bad holiday report I'd never go anywhere. I once read comments about the Paradise Bay hotel on a website. Most people thought it was very good, as I do, but I began to wonder if some of them had actually stayed at the right hotel when I read some bad reviews about it as none of them rang true. Stick to 4* if you can and the hotels are great, 3* don't seem to be as good . Don't stay in Buggiba if you don't like Blackpool-style resorts. Malta is lovely, with a lovely climate, and the Maltese people are lovely too. It's a friendly little island, full of history and virtually crime-free, and Maltese children/teenagers are well-behaved, respectful and just - nice. Those are the reasons I go there. :) |
Re: Holidays
My mums currently on a months hol in malta!! So lets hope she's loving it
I'm going to spain on a girly hol in june My youngest is going to france in july both kids are going with their grandparents late july then we're going on a family hol to greece in august There's other trips being planned but not sure if they will be abroad :D |
Re: Holidays
agree with west ender about malta, the only place i ever went 2 years running, disagree, though that bugibba is blackpool-style lol nowhere on malta is that, its just a bit livelier than the others, but if its beaches yer after north malta is the sandy ones.if kids are young though and want lots better to stay in good old blighty.;)

Oh yeh I realise you can only get an idea by the reading reviews. I think it also helps to remember that such is the British way the people most likely to spend time writing the reviews are the ones with a gripe. Quick to complain but never praise :) Also the ones who will have paid for a 1 star holiday and expect a 5 star one lol. |
Re: Holidays
We will probably get down to Florida to see Cindy's parents. While there will do the beach thing and some Disney World stuff.
Also, per usually, will try and spend 4 or 5 days up in Rhode Island. There we'll hangout with our families, eat GOOD seafood, go to the beach, etc. Hope fully this we'll get over to Newport and maybe even Boston. Brian |

Re: Holidays
Dont think we're going anywhere, Roberts only 4 months and we dont want to take him abroad.
A word of warning re Haven holidays, well Perranporth Haven, dont go its awful, we had 2 weeks there last August, paid more for a "gold chalet", which cost us the same as 4* Cyprus, it was small, dirty, the wallpaper was coming off the walls and the matresses stunk of pee! :( On the good side the beach was lovely and so was Cornwall.:) |
Re: Holidays
Me thinks me will be going to Costa del Accrington again this year.

Re: Holidays
I really love Malta. I lived there for two years back in the late seventies as my husband was stationed there. My daughter was born there.
I've been back a few times since. The last time was around seven years ago when Sam and I had a girlie week in Buggiba. Did we have some fun!! It isn't a bit like Blackpool. There's a nice plaza which is pleasant to spend time in. The Maltese don't seem to worry about children having high spirits. As mentioned in a previous thread, they are so friendly. I want to go now!! |

Re: Holidays
All this talk about malta is making me pine ....lol!!! I used to go every year from being 13 up until about 12 years ago... loved it over there .. stayed in mellieha ,buggiba and st julians ...loved st julians for the night life bet not good for families due to it being very noisey till early hours....
These days ive settled for the quieter life of touring in the caravan and in 4 weeks were off up to the solway firth again for the first weeks holiday but hoping to get down devon for another week in the summer , but due to my daughter sitting her exams this year we,re working around her at the mo.. |
Re: Holidays

Re: Holidays

i love caravanning too cherokee :D |
Re: Holidays
I've looked at getting a caravan but my car is getting a bit too old to start having a tow bar fitted. Might look again when I change car.
