Flamin' Money

I've been saving for months for my annual holiday to England and was so excited about going off to Exeter Airport on Good Friday, to spend a couple of weeks with my daughter and grandkids. I was hoping that my son and his family might join us for a day or too.

Our ancient, Renault Clio went and died on us yesterday. Poor Melvyn has gasket problems and his garage bill will be just about the price of my flight!

Well, at least we have enough to pay the bill!

Ohhhhhhhhhh June, that's so sad.:(

Can't you somehow do both?

I've just had an idea....nick a car, and still go and see your family, but don't get caught!:D

Re: Flamin' Money

I've just checked Skyscanner again, Rindy, and the price of the flight is 194 quid, return. Ten more than last week. I wish I'd booked it then and poor Melvyn would have had to take care of himself!

I'm quite fond of the old chap but I would consider ditching him apart from the fact that 'im indoors needs him for work. The only car in Tenerife with an Accy Stanley sticker on his back window!!

As an aside, I often wonder if my Accrington mates think that I'm loaded living here. Not true as we are here because it's so much cheaper than England!

Re: Flamin' Money

I could get it cheaper if I flew in to Manchester or London but by the time I've paid out for bus or train fares down to Cornwall it would work out the same, or even more.

I bet the coach from Manchester to Exeter, you could book online for a good price. Here's the link, which appears to be down at the moment though. Worth a try.

Life can be like that...you get a rebate on something and plan to spend it doing something decadent or luxurious.....or just plain necessary...then you find some bill or other plops onto the mat....bang goes the dream!
Hope you can find a way round your problem Junetta.

Re: Flamin' Money

exeter is a killer, for cheapos, but seriously junetta do you have to go on good friday, the prices are always hiked up when the schools are on holidays. i flew manchester/malaga £53 return in jan, and also the same price end of this month.i never go when the prices are sky-high, excuse the pun. i flew in jan on the 7th, if i,d gone a couple of days sooner the price was treble.

Re: Flamin' Money

We usually find that the flights are cheaper at half term and at Easter as the families fly in and the planes go back empty. As you say, Cashman, Exeter is a difficult one.

Re: Flamin' Money
