Re: i,m free
RIP John, you certainly made me smile when I was a child watching you've been served

Re: i,m free
R.I.P. John, he was so funny and always seemed to be such a nice man too.

Re: i,m free
An absolute diamond of a man who portrayed Mr Humphreys, a character that was always there in real life, but had never been acted before, to a tee.
|
Re: i,m free
He came across as being a genuinely nice bloke..it's shame.
And for him to catch a killer virus just from eating something is frightening. |
Re: i,m free
I never realised he was a Lancashire lad.

Re: i,m free
When I first moved to London I worked for six months at Simpsons of Piccadilly. It was the store that Are You Being Served was based on, as one of the writers used to work there. The inspiration for Mrs Slocomb and Mr Humphries still worked there, and John Inman became friends with the man who the Mr Humphries character was based on. He was always very nice, and usually had the place in uproar.
Incidentally growing up I hated the character, and found him cringeworthy. Now I like it.:) |
Re: i,m free
used to crack me up a funny guy. RIP.

Re: i,m free
I thought he was hillarious, especially when I was younger. I'm sure that we've all used the phrase "I'm Free" at some point!
Rest In Peace. :daisy: |

Not really a fan of Mr Inmans or AYBS,but i'm sure he was a top bloke as well as a comedy actor. It's always rather sad when one of our older comedians passes on,there can't be that many left now.:(
