The Hitler goof.
 

There is a story in this weekend's Accrington Observer about complaints received over the display of a uniform in an antique shop window. Some members of the British Legion were incensed that it was on so prominent a display in the town, because they thought it was infact a uniform of the Hitler Youth. The owner of the shop is quoted as saying that in fact it is a World War II fireman's uniform.

What really made me laugh was this quote-

"A number of members thought it was a Hitler Youth uniform and they were asking what the Accrington Pals would say if they were around today and saw it in the window.

Since most of the Pals were killed at least ten years before the Hitler Youth were being formed, I doubt they'd have any inkling what the uniform was, unless they were time travellers.

u know i was thinkin that - they had the story of the uniform - and it was a dark/black colour - then they had a pic of the hitler youths in their uniforms and they were clearly a light colour - possibly cream - b&w pic - and i was like er something doesnt seem right but hey these folk must've done their homework on hte uniform b4 publishing such a story

People write about the "Hitler youth" like they were some sort monsters, they were just young kids who were force fed propaganda much like all the British kids in the UK who were members of the Boy Scouts and Cubs during the 50s, any kid in the Cubs and Scouts and maybe to a lesser extant the girl Guides were force fed so much jingoistic John Bull cow manure it was laughable , how to be British (whatever that means) , fair play , a secret language ..Ging gang goolley, (Britains version of the Horst Wessell song) .....dib dib dub , etc. what was that all about ?
just a suggestion , rent and watch the film/movie "Downfall" and it will show how the German kids were used , probably not much different than our own.

I don't recall being taught that we were racially superior to anyone else in the Scouts, along with mastering reef knots.

The thought of human Beings...women and children having their heads shaved, stripped naked, and herded to their deaths holding hands into gas chambers upsets me .. and I'm not Jewish.

Looks like the members of the British Legion were mistaken about the uniform... but they should be allowed to make mistakes, after all they are the ones have/did risk their lives for the likes of you Chav1.... mind you looks to me like you would have preffered them not to have made such a fuss about the Nazis and just let them get on with it ..eh?

Agreed, the British Legion do a sterling job, but it made me laugh, the older ones taking offence on behalf of the Accrington Pals, when the uniform wasn't what they thought it was.

I keep getting a picture of 'Allo, Allo', for some reason.:rolleyes:
