The Truth About Size Zero

Did anyone else watch this, quite shocking that women go to these lengths to look good, or think they look good. Personally I dont think they look good. I hope some young impressionable girls watched this last night and realised the harsh reality, think Louise Rednapp did a good job.
Anyway whilst I was watching it I ate
1 bag of Walkers crisps
1 mini Twix
1 mini Milky Way
1 small bag of Malteasers
1 mini Snickers
1 mint Vicount biscuit
1 small bag Haribo Starmix:D

So I'll never be a size zero!

You missed a good programme Panther, it was an eye opener as to the health risks etc, yes a size zero is a uk 4 and although you get people who are naturally that slim, not many I'd say. Louise Rednapp already a slim size 8 followed a strict diet and exercise regime under medical supervision for 30 days to achieve the goal of size zero. It was interesting to watch, I'm sure it'll be repeated on ITV2

Gawd lowest i can go is size 10 or stretching at 8 as thats my bone structure with no meat on it & look positively anorexic at size 10

Thankfully im a happy medium size as i should be [recent mot check at docs said so too im bang on the right bmi with room to spare] & im staying that way suits me sir:D Women are supposed to have lumps, humps & bumps - thats what makes us interesting & sexy not looking like an ironing board!!

I think this zero is basically an easy route for manufacturers to skimp on material & why cant they see as much as everyone is individual so is dress size - god made variation of choices in people so should it be with the clothes as well!!! I'd rather be healthy than ill, there is enough starving people in the world with famine whom dont get a choice like our self obsessed developed world! Thing is best way to stop this ridiculous idea is not to lose weight or get to size zero/4 then there'll be no market - no sales - no reason to make or sell that size!!

Anyone size 8+ ......upwards be proud of being you - well done!:D:D

Re: The Truth About Size Zero

Is this size zero a woman invention or male ??? Be interesting on male perspectives as face it us girls do an awful lot at times to look nice for usually male attention involved somewhere along the line:D

Is the ironing board a hit or is it the lovely lady lumps & humps??

I know Jamie Rednapp [louises husband] is not best pleased about her doing this experiment, looked very worried indeed.

Good question. It is still a mainly homosexual group of male designers, and a tiny handful of women like Anna Wintour, editor of American Vogue, who dictate what is, and isn't fashionable....and it still continues. Sad.

Blimey I went into Asda tother day. saw a Lovely top and thought " hmm thats nice wonder what size it is"? it said size 4  I said to ginger " is this the kids section"? and thought the clothes looked too grown up for kids. I moved along the clothing to a top that I knew would be for women.....size 4......hmmm I was very confused. I didn't even know they had started selling that size. Maybe America but I wouldn't have thought there would be much call for it here. Too many kebab shops :D

For girls that means fitting into a pair of jeans with a 22-inch waist - that of an average British eight-year-old.

but you have to agree , a few years back you very rarely saw all these yard wide arses which you see everywhere these days , all the crying about sizing is just an excuse for not getting enough exercise ,even if its just walking to the bus stop instead of jumping into the car parked at the front door , and too much snacking and over eating :D :D

Re: The Truth About Size Zero

Its a lousy night on TV, so I am probably going to get into bother with this ..........but why do women want to look like men ?
We have a shopping chain here in the US called the Gap , not sure how big they are in Europe but they are running a new springtime ad campain on TV here for womens khaki slacks (pants/trousers) and every models arse looks as big as a garbage can/dustbin, yet the ads for women wearing denim look fine.
I'm not a misogynist pig , but surely a woman wants to look her best at all times , if only for her own self esteem, so someone explain to me why do women allow their inate femininity to be controlled this way and end up looking like brickies on a building site,
ok I know and accept that that women are now in the mainstream workforce and lots of women are now doing jobs that were at one time deemed 'men only' so I accept that its impractical that a woman working, for example in an oil refinery or erecting scaffolding should be wearing a dress for work , but where practicalities like these dont come into it whats the problem with wearing female attire (a dress) , every time I turn the television on we have all these female role models for the modern woman, ( Cheri Blair/Laura Bush/ Hillary Clinton/Angela Merkal etc. )and they never appear to be wearing a dress but a tailored 'pant suit' and I'm sorry to say they look like a bunch of Dykes(Lesbians) .
I'm sorry ladies , I'm not out to offend anyone , but I just want the females of our species to look like females, maybe its a generation/age thing , or maybe its some Germaine Greer feminist plot to d/emasculate the male species.

:D :D

Re: The Truth About Size Zero

Like Grego, I watched this programme whilst consuming a bag of crisps, 2oz of jelly babies and a glass of red wine...:D We all know how horrible some celebs look at size zero and to be honest at a size 12 it would probably take me years to get to that size, even if I wanted to.

The health effects for women, of any crash diet are astounding, lower oestrogen levels leading to infertility and osteoporosis, lethargy and depression, altered bowel habits, unhealthy looking skin and hair and much much more. It makes you wonder why celebs, or anyone would want to do it....

The sad thing is that if our world's celebrity women got it together and refused to conform to the size zero trend en masse..... The designers, model agencies, producers etc would have no choice but to make clothing for bigger women.

It's all well and good to blame a few gay designers and the movie and modelling industries but I think that there are more celebs, models and real women out there than there are designers.. Isn't it time that people got together and just stopped buying into this cr@p..

Totally agree. No one forces women to conform to an idealised body type, or even follow fashion, they do it willingly, by buying the clothes, and the magazines.

Sadly, I think the same thing is happening to the younger generation of men too. This hair cut, that styling product, this many six packs, which apparently you now should have eight of visible.

Re: The Truth About Size Zero

I forgot all about this program and I'd wanted to watch it!:( I saw her being interviewed about it a few weeks ago.

I do wish people could differentiate between naturally slim healthy women and people who starve themselves close to death in order to look like skin on a stick.

Slim and healthy I would love to be but I cannot for the life of me understand why any woman would want to emulate these models. I did see a program a little while ago where medical experts were explaining the changes it cause to the woman's body and how the body is actually eating itself in order to remain alive. http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/i...milies/eek.gif

I'm still struggling to lose weight so I suppose there's little chance of me ever getting to that stage but I understand that it does become an obsession with some people, something they have control over and feel they have achieved something.

harwood red 09-03-2007 09:34

Re: The Truth About Size Zero

I watched it and thought it was very well done and louise did it in a sensitive way, although I think they could have filmed a few more of her mood swings she talked about!!

Also it was interesting that they brought up the issue of yo yo dieting and that she had to be careful how she put the weight back on as she could just pile on the fat and would lose her muscle tone...it actually took her two months of careful eating to put it back on the right way!

Same here, i put on 1kg in a year LOL as go for once a year health check i dont own any scales, funny i got 2kg worth of Belgian choccy & scoffed most of that at christmas so it wasn;t that hehehehehe, quite ironic when i was a teen i only haad to look at a choccy bar & it would balloon me. I think a lot maybe psychological then i wanted to be slim, then got to the slimness i wanted but stress in my life at the time i went slimmer not intentionally as my metabolic rate was up & struggled now i've spent a few years trying to put it back on & not easiliy either for trying LOL!!!

That doesn't surprise me because it had actually crossed my mind that if she could get to size 0 maybe I could follow her regime and get to size 16!
