I Don't Live Here

Got home today and found sign on house for sale by auction. Checked the auctioneers website and it seems the house is being sold as Vacant Freehold House.

Do you reckon the landlord is trying to tell us something :D

Are you still squatting :D

That happened to me many years ago.

We had just moved into a rented house. The day after someone came from the estate agents with a key to measure it up.

The landlord probably is one of the 'me no understand' brigade.

Yes I do, going to ring them tomorrow.

Does anyone know what happens to the contract if it's sold. The auction is on 29th March and we have a contract until May 10th.

No it's a company in Manchester. The directors are Irish.

Basically I have peed them off because I carried out my threat to report them to the HSE for not doing the gas safety checks. I guess this is their way of getting out of it

If I were you Lancsdave, when it is sold at auction threaten to leave, that they will not want, as it will be your track record that will help to sell the house if you have been a good tennant, try to find out what the recomended price is at auction and let me know.

Yep apparently so i see ...but it does warn of a tennacy shorthold  but godknows what that would mean, that the new vendors would have to honour the tennancy till closure then upto them afterwards - thats if it sells

Could this be local governments attempt at repatriation? Have you been abusing PB in your posts or is it the fact that you have publicly shunned our Stanley?

Either way I hope you get things shorted out mate, good luck…..see you Saturday.

I've just had a letter from the auctioneers. They have said it's being sold as an investment property and it does not affect my tenancy.

Re: I Don't Live Here

Further update on this. As I mentioned the landlord has got arsey because I reported him. I just phoned the HSE because they sent me a letter the other day asking to provide a witness statement. They say the timescales of the acution mean they won't pursue this breach of law and because the tenants of the other 50 odd properties they have without certificate won't report it then the company concerned will get off with just having my complaint on record.

Whats the point of having H&S laws if nobody is going to apply them ?

Re: I Don't Live Here

Annoying isn't it! Burt i suspect that these tennants do not know about their rights or the purpose of HSE, also the fear on top of doing this as like u is losing their homes if they kick up a stink so landlord gets away with it & explains the fact of them putting house up on auction because they know their in too deep & can then start again without the combacks - typically the gov have failed to protect private tennants!!

Have u rung the landlord to find out what happens now as far as information & what if's ??

Re: I Don't Live Here

Sorry to hear about the continuing hassle you're having Dave. If you are issued with a notice to quit by chance of the new landlords then you have a good case for homeless priority with the council. However, because you have only been in accy a short while they will refer you back to burnley or pendle which ever you were under. If burnley/pendle deem you as statutory homeless then ask for a 213 referral to Hyndburn on the grounds of your daughters schooling.

Good luck :)
