Mother's Day.
Well it doesn't seem two minutes since it was the last Mother's Day....and here it is, upon us again.
I got MY mother's day card and bouquet of flowers today, because in the morning, at around 7am I will be loading myself and MY mum onto a coach to go to Whitby (via Goathland).......We will spend the day going round the village of Aidensfield and then onto Whitby. Lunch at a nice restaurant...and a blow on the sea front (hope we don't get blown into the briny) What joys have you got planned for your mother? |
Re: Mother's Day.

aww that is sad granny ... but there are those out there for tomorrow that will hopefully realise that its a day that is well deserved for mums everywhere , i will be thinking of my mum but will also be enjoying celebrating it with my children knowing my mum wouldnt have had it any other way. |
Re: Mother's Day.
Although I used to love cooking it is a little difficult now.
However I am having my Mum, and an old lady that bakes for me, round for a roast lunch tomorrow. My Mum is actually bringing all the veg etc., but I will be laying the table and slamming the roasting tin in the oven, as my contibution.:D Like lots of other people I think my Mum is the best in the world, except that I know mine really is. Thanks for loving me, and being my friend Mum. Love ya.:) |
Re: Mother's Day.
You guys who have such cherished memories of your mums are greatly blessed. Those who still have their loving mums also. I'm very envious of my friends who get along so well with their parents Our Mother's day isn't until May but I don't do much with it. Plus my mom has developed pretty bad dementia so she doesn't know about it anyhoo.
Hope you all have a special Mums' Day! Brian |
Re: Mother's Day.

Seems I'm getting landed with cooking a meal, daughter and grandaughter were coming from Dewsbury, but grandaughter now opted out. Didn't mind, as gave me opportunity to cook a piece of beef .. now not sure what to do, as know could get wasted. May just freeze this and take out two pieces of chicken ... oh hek, decisions, decisions. Hope she will be OK in this wind .. will just give a mum another worry. Received roses from daughter this morning, didn't hear the bell, which must have been very early .. Tesco's home delivery .. left it in me green bin .. so has come in handy after all ... :D |

Me, although hate cooking, would have loved my son, grandaughter, daughter and brother to come and help eat this piece of beef I have bought. A day around the dinner table listening to them all chat as a family (and they do chat believe me) would have been my best present. |
Re: Mother's Day.
reece woke me up this morning with cheese on toast for my breakfast, and a brew, it made me smile :D
|
Re: Mother's Day.

Think one of our foreign restaurants may not be as booked up as the others e.g. Balti Stan down Clayton .. good food, and the proprietor always respectful to our traditions. Apart from that, not a clue, sorry. |

lol Used to it kate lol. Cheers for the suggestion of balti stan didnt think of that. And thank you too to mick. It is very nice in there been a few times. Think i will let my mother decide when she gets back from cyprus today. |
Re: Mother's Day.
I think it's too commercial but it didn't stop me going for a meal, last night, with son and daughter-in-law to the local Turkish restaurant - their treat. The food there is to die for! Cards and gifts this morning, to make the awful weather outside (gales and hail and it's freezing cold) seem a bit less depressing. :)
Hope you enjoyed Whitby, Margaret. I lived there for 6 years in the 1960s, one of the best places in England, and I loved it. Oh, but there's no village called Aidensfield. They film it in Goathland. ;) |
Re: Mother's Day.
yes monte christo's is nice meal .

Re: Mother's Day.
Chris got up with the kids this morning (he does every Sunday though) and I had a lie in. Then at about 9.30 they piled in with cards and presents and flowers. Both had done stuff at school and with my mum last week and with the childminder on thursday so had two cards from each of them, fantastic designed candles, pictures and paper flowers in a flower pot - plus real flowers and some spending money to buy a new outfit from Chris because he's been working a lot these last two weeks and got tons of overtime. So spoilt rotten so far.

Re: Mother's Day.
My lads had already bought me a new top and necklace, and when I got in this morning there was a card behind the door (they were stopping at their dads) for Mother's day. They have gone to their grandma's (dads mum) which I endorsed so I could have a chill out day after a heavy night :)
My mum is fantastic, she is due back from her hols tomorrow, but I have sent her a text and she knows I think she is the best mum ever |
Re: Mother's Day.

This year I bought her a couple of books that she wanted.......and we took the trip to Whitby......we had our lunch out, but we would have been doing that anyway. So I don't feel that our celebration of Mothering Sunday was particularly commercialised. |

Re: Mother's Day.
Mothers Day happened to fall on my son, Harry's, 1st Birthday. We went for a meal to celebrate both.
Harry got me a lovely card and a big Me to You teddy, and some daffodils. I got my Mum some flowers and a herb growing set (she likes that sort of thing) Grandma got Shea Body Butter. I'd have loved to chill but Harrys not old enough to run around for me yet. Lol!! At least nobody had to cook. Am spending today putting his toys together, and sticking all the stickers on. Hope everyone else had a brilliant day. :D |
Re: Mother's Day.
My daughter in Law - Saturday night - she's a very intelligent woman, a computer consultant, and not usually a "dizzy" blonde (she is blonde, though). Two men come into the restaurant, both wearing Leprachaun hats.
"Look at them", says d-i-l. "Well they're probably Irish. It's St Patrick's day today", says son. "Oh, I never knew that was the day before Mother's Day", says d-i-l. |
Re: Mother's Day.
oh dear i assume mothersday was yesterday then
OOOOOOOOOPS :o only kidding my mum would gut me alive if i forgot but i couldnt find a card thanking her for 36 years of fear and intimidation  |
Re: Mother's Day.
Was down at my sisters after work today - dropping off an invitation for her and her 2 sons were there - she was at work. Youngest upstairs watching tv, playstation etc. Eldest who was 18 a couple of weeks ago was downstairs and being the liberated 18 was having a can of fosters with his mates and his big auntie jen walked in!!! Anyway i made him make me a brew and asked him what he got his mum for mothers day. He said i made her cry! What did you do said i. He said i didnt buy her a card so i wrote her a poem instead and it was really nice thanking her for the last 18 yrs etc. He read it out to me and it was really soppy. I said what did your brother get her he said he made her breakfast in bed! Now he's 14 and dangerous with it!!! :D He made me a butty one day - ham & tomato - whats wrong with that you ask - it was 2 slices of bread with butter 1/2 inch thick on it and then the tomato was cut into 4 slices and it was a big big tomato!!! The slices were at least 1 cm thick. So sis was looked after on mums day. :D Havent seen the other one yet so dont know what she got.

Re: Mother's Day.
ah that was sweet of him, doing your own thing for your mum on mothers day is so much better than buying stuff
