Hyndburn Sports Centre
After visiting HSC with my little boy who attends swimming lessons I was physically sick from the absolutely disgusting stench in the female changing rooms. It smells like sewage and the level of hygiene in there is extremely poor. I have been told that the male changing rooms are spotless but have never been in.
I wonder, what did they actually do when they spent lots of money on the centre a few years ago, the only difference in the changing rooms I see is new lockers. The benches, toilets, showers & floor tiles are just as minging as they ever were. You are supposed to improve your health by attending a sports centre not put it as risk. I have complained to the staff but it would seem that it's acceptable because its been like that for years! Now I learn that the prices have just risen in April!!! Laughable! So these Easter holidays I chose not to take advantage of the 'free swimming for children' at HSC and took mine to Waves and paid packet to swim in a packed pool with not much nicer facilities, though there was no smell & I actually managed to retain my stomach contents this time. |
Re: Hyndburn Sports Centre

Re: Hyndburn Sports Centre
It was like that a couple of weeks ago when I took Ellie for her lesson, there was someone mopping at the time so I couldn't say anything it certainly smelt like a problem with the drains, but when I went last week it was clean, though it was 10am.

Re: Hyndburn Sports Centre
It sounds like it does contravene health and safety regulations. Surely they have those notices up on the wall somewhere I presume? It's a while since I was there but I'm sure I've seen them. Do they have a contact number on them for complaints?

the sport centre is really nice i have to say
but the changing rooms are a disgrace i'm ur average bloke i dont mind the three second rule etc but even the gents i think twice about usign them. there's just soemthing about them that make me feel very uncomfortable, where as when i was a member at the jjb gym i never thought twice as they were maintained to a very very high standard |

Re: Hyndburn Sports Centre
i agree its the floors they're just so manky. its like walking on some diseased flooring - they badly need to sort that out. there standing water, ppls fluff and all sorts there... i understand they cant have the same level of service as a jjb gym but its so yucky.
the showers aswell - totally rubbish |
Re: Hyndburn Sports Centre
Tell you what they are blumming pathetic & losing it by the minute, went today & only got an hr swim with a party of kids at 2pm to be told we'd only have an hr cos the pool shuts at 3pm - bloody hell its a saturday afternoon, shuts early now for ladies only swim after 3pm:rolleyes: Is it me or is Hyndburn Sports Centre losing the plot & you wonder why kids have naff all to do, also all this balls of encouraging kids to take up more exercise & yet cant access it at reasonable hrs - yet website & other web ads point the times of the pool till 4pm/4.30pm close. Who do u blame HBC for not updating the website or the fact sports centre arn't bothered & seriously trying to slim down their usage. Mind u who do i complain to? because it carries on it'll be set for closure one way or tother with nothing else to replace it in the town:rolleyes:

Why and how do they get away with a ladies only swim anyway? Any special sessions like that should be early morning or late evening so the rest of us can use the facilities as well. I thought the sports centre was run as a separate business now and not part of HBC. |

Are there men only sessions ? Must admit I thought it was absolutely ridicolous. They emptied a busy pool of families and kids to allow about 5 women to swim.  |
Re: Hyndburn Sports Centre
I too think its ridiculous, its sexist if nothing else and dont know how they get away with it in this day and age, whats more it should be advertised better that family swim ends at 3pm, they could at least mention it when your paying to get in.
