Cosmetic Surgery

Have you ever had any "work" done for purely cosmetic reasons or would you consider it? If so, what did you/would you have done?

No i havent and no i dont think i've got the guts to have it done. Everyone knows me as i am and ok my face aint beautiful and no my body isnt beautiful either but thats me and thats who i am. Why should i have surgery or botox injections just for someone else to look at because I wouldnt be looking at my no wrinkle face would i (unless looking in a mirror) Plus i can find better uses for the money!!!:D :D :D

technically I have had, I had my eyes lasered. In my opinion it wasn't a vanity thing at all. I simply wanted to be shut of glasses and was fed up paying 3200 a pop every 2 years or so

Nah, I don't call that cosmetic surgery, unless you looked a prat in glasses. :D

(If you paid that much for your glasses you were going to the wrong optician) ;)

I haven't had any work and although I'm no oil painting I'm not planning any. I think some of these older Hollywood types look ridiculous when they've overdone to nips and tucks. I am planning on growing old disgracefully but won't be needing any help from surgeons. :D

I admire the older women who advocate growing old gracefully. Diane Keaton is a rare Hollywood example of this.
My only indulgence is false teeth. I am travelling to a pricey denture clinic/lab soon to get a more natural smile.

Would consider having the eyes lasered if I could afford it but am content with my contact lens. Wouldn't touch owt else but I have a friend who had to have a breast reduction op as her rather large bosoms caused her inumerable back problems including slipped discs; she was far happier with what she was left with and looked miles better. I may consider that if I ever develop "spaniel's ears " !!!:D

Re: Cosmetic Surgery

'Never say never' you young ladies who have posted .. in another 20years will be quite the 'norm' and perfectly acceptable and you may re-think. :)
Ok to say Never whilst your faces are wrinkle free, but may have second thoughts on this matter once those 'laughter' lines start appearing.

My 42 year old daughter just had some light collegen in her lips (got a discount 'cause she was doing some work in a cosmetic hospital :D ). They look great and not swollen or anything.

Girl at work had eyebrows tattoed ... again looks good and natural, next week having outline of lips tattoed. Can't wait to see result.

Yes, I would definitely consider, but scared like in case went wrong... :(

Watching '10 years young' on telly, think the best ones have been the bags under eyes and the brow lift .. maximum effect, but not obvious.

grego 25-04-2007 18:38

Re: Cosmetic Surgery

I'd never say never, though I dont want anything yet, those eye bag lifts dont look too painful, dont like the face lift look or the trout pout though.

I know Grego, but doesn't have to be a trout pout at all ... depends on the quantity they put in... I have bad lines from smoking :( and am very tempted. Only light bruising initially which disperses .. but still scarey though and expensive, but well ... might make me more kissable, even at my age ... :D :D I will never succumb to growing old gracefully, but that's just me.

I agree with you there about the amount they put in, one of my friends has has it done several times, the first time it looked quite natural but then she wanted them bigger, they look awful now, its really ruined her face IMO.:)

That's a shame, think you can get addicted though, can't you ? Fortunately my pocket would put a stop to this.

Panther:Sorry to be a numbskull, who is Pete Burns ?

grego 25-04-2007 19:04

Re: Cosmetic Surgery

Got a feeling its a bit addictive, not just the lips but the all surgery thing, once you've had one thing done you suddenly wont be happy with something else and so on.

Re: Cosmetic Surgery

Luckily I'm not very "wrinkly" (even at my advanced age  ) but I wouldn't say no to a neck-lift. I always used to fancy a nose job too, to slim down the tip a bit, but I can live without it.

The one "cosmetic" thing I did for years was dye my hair. I have been completely grey since I was 30 (thanks, Dad!) and I dyed it light brown until about 5 years ago. I stopped because I was fed up with having to touch up the roots so often and now I prefer it grey - well, ash-blonde I call it. :D

grego 25-04-2007 19:09

Re: Cosmetic Surgery

Yeah I suppose if you count hair dye then thats me too, got my first grey hair at 21, got loads now so it gets done every 6 weeks:(

Re: Cosmetic Surgery

As well as the posh teeth I am getting soon (£1000+) I have 4 wigs, all various shades of blond and different lengths-2 curly, 2 straight bobs.
It's true what they say - blondes have more fun (I'm naturally -ginger)
I used to go on (geriatric) UK coach trips and used to baffle the other trippers by having a different hairdo every night at dinner. This doesnt count as 'surgery' since all are removable (no-one sees me 1st thing in the morning when it all has been detached for the night :D )
