Also if I'm not mistaken Gabby was his late partner, not his wife, though since then she has sadly passed away.

Who was it that said you shouldn't believe anything you read?

Would anybody from Accy web want to come to the local election count this Thursday 10pm who could post their view of events and the results as the votes are counted? I don't think there is available any direct internet connection so you'd have to do it via your mobile and a laptop or a phone that you can send text via the web. It would be a good thing if Accrington Web ran the only live analysis of events in our Borough.

That sounds a great idea, unfortunately I'm busy Thursday evening.

Perhaps Peter himself could do it? As he's not up for re-election this time, I'm sure he'll have plenty of time on his hands on Thursday night.:D

That sounds really exciting! Though im not sure i'd personally be any good at that sort of thing! I am fairly interested however.

As a matter of interest how long does it take to count votes for a local election from when the poling stations close?

If AccyWeb wanted to be there on the inside then I would suggest starting blogging about 9pm. The first box will be there about 10.10 and about 30 minutes a count. If they do them 4 at a time about 2 hours. It should end about 12.30 if there isn't a recount.

It is 18-16-1 now with 12 seats up. So the parties will start on Thursday with Labour 11 Councillors (requiring 7 more for a majority), Conservatives 11 (requiring 6 for a majority as the independent is voting Conservative and 7 more for an outright majority) and the 1 Independent (voting Conservative).

I think it is a good idea and gives AccyWeb heads up. 15,000 people will vote so there is obviously a lot of interest and you'll beat the other media. You may even feed the National TV coverage if they pick up on the blog.

5 days to go. I'd need to get you a pass. So you'll have to let me know.

Have to admit I like elections in Accrington compared to Pendle where I used to live. They don't waste paper here on letterbox leaflets every few hours like they do over there. In fact the only leaflet I have to put in the recycling bin is ironically one from the Green Party :D

Re: Elections in Accriwoton.

ive had leaflets from the labour party and the BNP but strangely none from the conservatives, or the green party
