Ah, used to be a daily occurrence here in Culpeper. Alwyas had cattle breaking out and wandering around the roads. Development has unfortunetly quenched those simple country happenings.

You have to take the train from Blackburn to Accrington these days ?

Seem to remember there used to be a Blackburn bus every 15 minutes (4 an hour) and in between there was the Ossy bus which came into Accy center from Clayton so the folks who lived around the Antley and Church had a great service , think the Blackburn buses charged a penny (1d) more than Accrington Corporation if you used them before the traffic lights at Church .

and before any cheeky comments its not that long ago ;) :D :D

Steeljack you have to be going back 30 years at least for that to have happend!!!
Bus service on Sundays is 2 an hour only now on the Blackburn to Accrington (the old 46 srevice) the Main-line (Clayton to Oswaldtwistle via Accrington service 1) has been superseded by the Hyndburn Circular 6 and 7 (with a 6a and 7a) to try and take in ALL areas

Trains about 2 an hour 1 Preston to Colne 1 Blackpool to York...

LOL , well I did say it was a penny (in owd money) so I guess it is a while back ;) ;) but it does seem mass transit was better organized and more efficient then than now :D :D

Yes since the Gov of the day (Tory) in 1986 decided to De-regulate Public Transport and allow anybody to set up their own bus service (that was the idea behind it) and to compete on a "level playing field" the local councils HAD to provide subsidys for the non-money making routes but these are now under threat.

It was planned to stop any one council/company from having too many routes and thereby making too much from the council and travlling public.

Used to have HBT (Hyndburn Transport), Ribble Motors, Burnley and Pendle, Rossendale, Blackburn all owned by local councils now think that there is only Rossendale Transport that is owned by the council all of the others got sold on to Private Companies who have since either sold them on or gone bust and then the buses have been bought now in this area the largest operator of Public-Transport is TransDav (French owned) who run Lancashire United, Burnley/Pendle and have just been allowed to buy Blackburn Transport!!!! Wheres the compition now???

Look out Rossendale!!!!!

The bus can take 20-40minutes depending on route and costs the same as a train.. although for my friend who lives in Rishton it is cheaper to catch the train. Thats why I got it, because she was getting it .. and it NORMALLY takes 10minutes or less :p

I would be more inclined to believe you could be right, if you said a rubbish tip as that what that part of the railway is like.
