Have You Lost - - -?
Firstly, I would like to relate a conversation that I had with a work colleague this afternoon. No names but he is in his mid-seventies and is relatively "all there" or was!
He walks into the office and I greet him. His immediate reply is "Have you ever lost something and been unable to find it? I've been looking all morning," "Yes" I replied, "so what have you lost?" "Can't find them anywhere, I've looked and looked and looked" says he. - - and then invites me to guess what it is that he has lost:confused: I had a couple of outrageous guesses and finally insisted he told me! "My bottom set of dentures" he says. "My top set were in the cup and my bottom set should have been with them - - but they weren't. I had a small ulcer a couple of weeks back, I often have them, and take my teeth out , wrap them up in a bit of tissue and stick them in my pocket - - but I know I were wearing them last Thursday, I had a pork chop for tea. just can't understand where they've got to" He continued this conversation for some time after and by the end, I didn't know whether I was going to laugh out loud - or throw up:D but it got me wondering, Has any accyweb member lost or misplaced anything embarrassing or weird and had to admit it? |

Re: Have You Lost - - -?
My Grandad once lost his false teeth in the sea whilst we were on holiday. He was swimming and they fell out. We all then spent the next half hour trying to feel for them along the sea bed with our feet. There were five of us who must have all looked quite daft as we were in a straight line pushing around with our feet.
We found them! |
Re: Have You Lost - - -?
yep me false teeth when i hit the water, coming down the Black Chute at butlins minehead, nearly drowned to boot, kids cracked up. they had to stop all kids coming down the 3 chutes until me knashers were recovered. MAJOR EMBARESSMENT.:D

Re: Have You Lost - - -?
Reminds me of an old RSM I used to work with he always brought a large pork pie wrapped in a cloth,he would delicately slice it into bite sized chunks. Then take his teeth out to eat it!
He once misplaced his teeth after a nights imbibing and found them in the fridge. |
Re: Have You Lost - - -?

Re: Have You Lost - - -?
the full story- i went up the steps intending to try the yellow chute first (easiest) when i got to the top, theres all these little kids- not 1 using yellow, all using the black chute. i couldnt forshame going on the yellow. so i got on my mat, and went down the black chute FACE DOWN not sitting, thinking i,ll show these brats, face hits water first- teeth go flying. that really showed em- i think not.:D

Re: Have You Lost - - -?
The real ones drop out as you get old.
The false ones drop out unless you pay an arm and leg for really posh ones (should get mine sorted by July - will smile again then :D ) |

Re: Have You Lost - - -?
Implants cost £1,200 PER TOOTH!!
I am just getting an Ivoclar BPS upper denture (between £800 - £1000) I have to take a photo of me when I had teeth and they will replicate what I lost, and they take more measurements to ensure perfect comfort & fit. BPS=Biofunctional Prosthetics System http://www.privatehealth.co.uk/priva...ments/dentures PS will need 6 appointments starting 16th May |

Re: Have You Lost - - -?
Screw-ins/implants arent suitable if you have 'bone loss', so they aren't always possible.
I have researched all possible solutions to my wearing dentures - if this 'BPS' doesnt work for me ,nothing will!!- the ultimate in dentures. I have that awful 'gag reflex' so only wear my current partial denture when I go out, and use a mountain of glue. I only started to loose teeth 3 years ago and they have gone down like dominoes, mainly due to one abcess after another. Ah well -I'm TRYING to grow old gracefully |

For past 2 yrs I havent had any coach trips (which I loved ) and no meals out (which I also loved) so my spending money saved will go on my teeth - I hope to get gallivanting again soon :D

Re: Have You Lost - - -?
And getting back to the plot ................. I seem to have lost my glasses! I usually have them on a thing round my neck but if I'm in the house I take them off completely. Yesterday I was working on this thing for my daughter and then went out last night but when I came to look for me specs I couldn't find them anywhere. I ended up having to put an old pair on, but that was dangerous because I'm so used to just taking them off and letting go because they are on a thing. These weren't so I had a tendency to drop them!
Now I wonder where the heck I put my other ones. |
Re: Have You Lost - - -?
Does losing the will to stay up count?
