Steel Toe Caps

Anyone else on here have to wear these for 8 hours a day?I know because of health & safety reasons they're required to be worn in most work places & when trying them on for the 1st time they feel o.k.But 8 hours, day after day really kills the feet.I'm sure in the future thereis going to be more people with foot problems through wearing these than if they had'nt bothered.Nowadays i'm looking foward to the weekend more then i don't have to have them on my feet, rather than the more obvious things:(

It was made the rule at where i used to work that everyone in the fitting shop, stores, cleaners and garage had to wear steel toe caps. The blokes all had to choose from either 1pr shoes or boots. Us ladies had the pick of the catalogue - all the cleaner chose shoes. Me after having trainers with steel toe caps changed her mind and got boots. 6 months after me getting them and only wearing them twice (i wore my trainers) my nephew was having a birthday party and i was dressed up as a monster - thank god i had the idea for covering the work boots in green & yellow tissue paper them steel toe caps saved my toes with 30 7 year olds beating the living daylights out of the birthday monster.

By the way ive still got them theyre great for in the snow and ice.

Re: Steel Toe Caps

Should try mine they are made to make your feet sweat to make for better ESD disipation into the floor. We have to get them a size bigger as feet swell that much in them. Two hours and you have to remove em to cool the tootsies.

Re: Steel Toe Caps

Mine are comfy enough and light enough to wear as normal boots.

I have got a pair of cattepillar steel toe boots and they are as light and as comfy as anything and I wear mine for roughly 12 hours a day...with steel toe boots you get what you pay for...

They are designed to be used on an electronics assembly shop floor so that any ESD (static) disipates into the floor. We have the option of boots or so called steel toe capped ESD trainers which are worse than the boots. Many of us have tried to get away with wearing what we feel comfortable in only to get a strip torn of us and forced back to there issued ones. :( :( :( .

I swear by "Redwings" brand, worn them for 30 odd years, as Glasgow Guy says , you get what you pay for , you wear the cheap stuff long enough and you will have callouses (sp?) on your feet like horses hooves ,
just a tip , if you are doing any welding get the pull-on type , makes getting them off easier/quicker if you get a hot welding stub down them

I've got a couple of pair of Timberlands that are very comfortable and meet all the nec. saftey ratings including for electrical. Having the 2 makes it nice to air out a pair every other day. One pair is no longer waterproof though as I cut into the steel with an errant chainsaw!

, When i worked a t Lucas,s they provided you with a new pair every year along with new overalls,..It was not compulsary to wear the shoes ,but if you had an accident on your feet and wasent ,then you had no comebacks..simple as that.
I still have a few brand new pairs,,very smart too...i might dig them out.
