Airport Stubs It Out
Just a warning to anyone flying from Manchester before the pfficial smoking ban comes into force.......theyve already banned smoking in all terminals starting yesterday:mad: Designated smoking shelters outside, but if you fancy a nerve calming 10 fags & a couple of pints in the bar....forget it,they've sprung it early & with no warning to anyone living outside Manchester(well, i didnt know till i read it on ceefax).I knew it would happen eventually but no word of warning from the travel company or anything:mad: I should be able to cancel & get a refund,i've had no time to prepare,it's the shock of not knowing..

Re: Airport Stubs It Out
No smoking at Tenerife Airport and there hasn't been for almost eighteen months. I also found that the smoking area at Exeter had gone by the wayside when I was there in April.
I've found that it helps to have some Nicorette chewing gum and although it doesn't go with a pint, it's better than nowt! My main problem is not being able to take my 'hip flask'. I get so scared that a gobfull of brandy helps me to control my nerves. Mind you, worrying about no fags and no brandy sort of takes the edge off worrying about the plane! |

The only thing is though as anyone thought of this you have to be at the airport for 2hrs before your flight, you check in go through all the security checks - then nip out for a fag 15 mins before your flight because you know you cant have a fag for the next 3 hrs - what happens when you've had your fag and have to go back thro all the security checks because you've been outside and miss your plane!!! :D |

Re: Airport Stubs It Out
As I seem to travel back to England twice a year, I've a sort of little routine going now.
1) Get the airport bus to pick me up from our local bar 2) Two ciggies before joining the check-in queue 3) Check in.........outside for two more ciggies 4) Through to departures for a large brandy 5) Board whilst concentrating on nicorette 6) Suffer four and a half hours of terror, plus nicorette and large brandy 7) Wait fifteen minutes until the steps turn up 8) Half an hour before my suitcase needs dragging off that turntable thingy and outside for a much needed smoke. All in all, I'm looking at around eight hours between ciggies. I can accept that it's unfair to smoke on the plane but I do think that a smoking area inside the airport isn't too much to ask. It isn't going to happen though, is it? |
Re: Airport Stubs It Out

Re: Airport Stubs It Out
Hehehehe... Try going to and from New Zealand which is miles away from anywhere. You can only smoke outside across the road at Auckland airport then a long haul flight. If you were lucky you would be changing planes in Sydney or Brisbane which used to have smoking rooms before flying 10-12 hours to Singapore, Bangkok or Hong Kong.
Auckland airport car park was full of people chain smoking with jangled nerves the last time I went. There used to be a smoke room there the first time I went, it was a separate room and did nobody any harm. |

Re: Airport Stubs It Out
The only time I ever wish I didn't smoke is when I go into the smoking areas in airports.
One quick puff (no jokes please) and I'm out of there quicker than you can roll your own.:D |
Re: Airport Stubs It Out
They should also ban all alcohol too.... nothing worse than sitting next to someone stinking of ale and worse for the weather... when on a five hour flight...

Re: Airport Stubs It Out
This is not good. I'm absolutely petrified of flying, and need a fag or two before I board to calm my nerves. Fair enough stopping it in the bars because thats going to be the law. But why cant they still have the smoking booths that they had. They dont affect any other people.
Do people think that this will cause any air rage?? People do get crabby when they cant have one. I'm not to sure because like June said Tenerife is banned and Salou & Ibiza are the same, so I suppose it must work there. Just not very nice. |
