Grey bin collection
Looks like im going to be having a barney with the bin chappys in a bit, they have moved all the other bins to the side of road for collection - but mine, seems these burley blokes are too weedy to move mine i managed fine!![yes albeit heavier than normal but not over full - due to clear out with kitchens/bathrooms being done].
I called the council refuge last year about small household rubbish - which i was told to put it in the grey bin if it fits - if not then its a collection jobber, & thats what ive done but i have a big feeling they are NOT going to empty my bin & no its not over flowing it has lid shut - i will await the bin van arriving:mad:     I wouldnt mind i've recycled so much this week or least attempted, this stuff is non recyclable. |
Re: Grey bin collection
Strange people. It's one job that you don't need qualifications for yet they all seem to have a university degree in 'bin content guessing', and then decide to be judge and jury if your'e going to get it emptied.
I once had trouble with my garden bin in Pendle which they deemed too heavy too be full of normal garden waste. They refused to empty it. Strangely enough while it was on the street some local yob tipped it over  , and the council had to come out with a wagon and shovel it all up :D |
Re: Grey bin collection
Just rung refuge dept, had a lovely chat & laugh at bin mens weedyness, there is no weight restriction on the grey bins just the green garden ones, as my bin is shut there is no reason why they shouldnt take it, so was told to move it to the side of the road to be emptied. I explained what was in it & why heavier than normal - she said hehehe as long as theres not a sink in it then its fine & that as im recycling [managed to ask for my white & blue bags extras - over flowing in paper rubbish in the house lol]
So she said if they dont or any probs ring back. Lets hope:D |
Re: Grey bin collection
Theres a weight restriction on the green bin because of people putting mechanical items in the green bin - that is why in case u wanted to know LOL.

Re: Grey bin collection
Also of interest - glad i rung them, cos this recycle thing is confusing sometimes, glass recyclables are glass containers from food or pop, cant recycle wine glasses glass from other things - they if u cant find a new home for are also allowed to go in the grey bin:D

Re: Grey bin collection
I get confused about what is and what isnt 'tinfoil'.
I mailed them about catfood pouches, which the manufacturers describe as foil, but council advised me that they aren't for recycling. Also - the foil bags from inside wine boxes - I was treating that as foil but then found that some have a plastic inner lining. I now only treat foil that can be crumpled as foil for recycling. It would be nice if the council would put up a webpage giving more detailed info on what they consider recyclable. Councils vary according to what recycling facilities they are using, I think. |
Re: Grey bin collection
Yeh Margaret i said that to them that some things are confusing when comes to recycling, i suppose it does vary, but some form of information about what is & what isn't recycled:confused:
