Hyndburn Council

Have they cocked up by any chance ?

I received a summons this morning for unpaid council tax for last year. Slight problem, not only have I paid last years I have also paid part of this years. Rung twice this morning and on both occasions have waited 10 minutes in the queue before somebody has intervened and asked if I could ring back later when it should have quietened down.

Dare I suggest it's more than me they have incorrectly summonsed

i would say that it was an error on their side,as long as you have kept your reciepts of payment you shouldnt have anything to worry about, the thing is,it wastes your time and phone calls for what is their error,i hope it all gets sorted out soon for you

how can they make such a daft mistake??
have you still got your receipts?...if so dont worry about it

Re: Hyndburn Council

I'd email them and tell them to ring you, you have paid and not shelling any more money out on phone calls etc and if they don't ring waste their time by going to court and making a fool of them - ps, double check you made all payments in full, might be over a few penny's

There is more chance of a one legged man winning a backside contest, than anyone has of getting any sense out of that money wasting machine. I used to have to pay £5.00 a year Council tax, it took them three letters all arriving on the same day, to inform me how they arrived at the figures already supplied by me. Surely it must be cheaper just to 'write off' these annual small sums than it is to collect them:confused: Just a thought that mighn't save a few bob.

i wouldnt deal with it on the telephone. they probaly wont acknowledge that you called and land you with further costs. they really are blood suckers. email them or write to them and youll have proof that you have contacted them.

I'm not contradicting you (:D) but in my dealings with them, calls and what you said, and to whom you spoke, are recorded with your details. They were in my case anyway.

probably depends who you get n what sort of day they are having? denied having a record of any phone calls to paris.

Re: Hyndburn Council

...I agree though, actually going in is more productive than phoning if you have a problem. You can stage a sit in until you are satisfied with the service.

Some of the people at the desks are very good at their jobs. However some behind the scenes aren't fit to lick the stamps in the post room. I've kept one particularly bad letter from a woman who claims to be in charge, and it is the most badly written letter I've ever seen in my life. A child of six would have done better.

actually one of the ladies should be in charge of the whole lot. she seems to be very competent and in my opinion deserves to be promoted. the rest are useless

It will more than likely be a fault ( human) one on their computer....

who ever mans the computer does not have a clue :

I would go in and talk to them: However take a packed lunch you will be there all day:

They are totally useless down there:

Re: Hyndburn Council

If you have proof that you paid it i would wait till they take it to court then you can show just how incompetent they really are.

If you ever do get through to them on the phone don't count your chickens - they'll probably only tell you there is nothing they can do as their computers are down.

I did get through eventually. I seem to recall when I left school you needed about 5 GCE's to work in local government offices. Clearly from my conversation yesterday those standards don't apply these days

I have given the details to an advisor and now await an officer to deal with my issue. We will see !!!

It's quite surprising when in your dealings with Hyndburn Council, just how fairly they play when trying to find lost records or transcripts of alleged telephone calls.;)

I don't know how you've done it, but can I just point out the above posted quote was made by Spinner, and not by myself.

That happens when someone tries to edit a quote and takes out one of the square brackets as well.

Yes willow she will learn eventually, but garinda was right I should have edited the post, so it was my fault, I have been a member long enough to know that was a basic mistake on my part.:o
