Bye Bye CD's

Asda has today annouced it is taken CD Singles off sale, because people are downloading more and more. Tesco, HMV & Virgin Megastores are also considering it.

CD's only account for 22% of the market, unlike 77% 2 years ago. Frankly i'm not suprised though. Why leave the house to pay £2.99/£3.99 for a single, when you can sit on your bum and pay 79p on itunes.

So with videos, tapes & now CD's whats on its way out next???

Thats not to bad though. I doubt they'll get rid of CD players anytime soon. Because people who are downloading are still putting them onto CDs.

But if they do you'll have to put all your CD's of your records onto an MP3 Player!! lol.:D

I think technology is passing me by.

My great grandmother wouldn't have that new fangled electricity in her house, even in the 1960's.

It must run in the family.

(Runs off to bulk buy a lifetime's supply of video tape, before they stop selling them too.):D

Albums on CD will still be around for a while yet. Singles are just a waste.

People are selling their CD album collections cheap on e bay. If your music taste is not the 'latest release' kind then there are some good bargains to be had - some are rare CDs no longer available in shops. I dont have a cd player - just use Windows Media player on PC. I could have resold them after downloading but glad I didnt when my pc 'crashed' in March.

Does anyone know where I can get one of those record players that burn onto CDs I saw one advertised in the Sunday Independent once but it's never been in since, sorry for thread wandering but as this was on topic, but what the hell why not.

I've never bought cd singles though always used to buy the vinyl ones, think it must have been a cost thing for me especially when you can get the album for £9 or less.
