Mugger alert!

Just a word of warning, a lady was mugged in the vicinity of the Citizens Advice Bureau near Paradise Street on Friday afternoon, apparently this is the second incident recently.
The police are on the trail!

Be more than their hands that get the chop. Why cant these sicko's pick on someone who can defend themselves or are the scared they will get a doing.

It's the back that runs from Paradise Street adjacent to the new Health Centre.
The police have a good description of the person involved ;so fingers crossed!

Yeh, Lampman hope they get the xxxxxxx (insert your own word).

Once coming out of Brixton tube, was a little disorientated as usually drove to this particular customer, asked a policewoman whether left or right (can walk miles if you set off in the wrong direction). Had my bag slung over my shoulder, she warned me of the frequent muggings in the area and advised me to tuck it under me armpits close to my chest .. don't know whether this helps, but suppose better than swinging from your shoulder.

Whenever I'm anywhere that I feel less than comfortable I always sling my bag or my camera round my neck and one arm, not just over my shoulder. Might look a bit daft but it's worth it.

Also, always told that muggers look for victims who look like victims. Walk tall and proud and you're less likely to be attacked.

even that can be dodgy, late wife had hers over like that, and was dragged to the ground by a passenger on a motorbike, lost the bag n everything n finished up at the hospital, so would advise women never to walk KERB side of any highway, always stay by the wall.

Walking close to the wall can be dodgy too cashman. Too close to doorways and alleys!

Re: Mugger alert!

I believe the lady was elderly,so the bit about looking a victim may well have some bearing.
Lucckily with all the CCtv coverage me laddo may beup before the bench before too long.

I was always taught never to walk too close to the walls - too close to doorways and alley ways as well which means it's easy to be dragged in.

I was always told to walk in the middle of the path that way then if anyone tried to drag me in a door way well first off they dont know what theyre getting but also that there was always a chance i could get away and dont walk to close to the kerb because you never know when a bike will be going past.

If you take the wrong turn at that tube station you might never be seen again.

When my Grandmother used to come down to London, she had a special money pocket in her knickers to deter muggers, which could get a little embarrassing in the middle of M & S at Marble Arch!:D
