Re: Best moment on British Television
My all time favorite has to be the first thing I saw: the BBC test card on an old Bush 12" black and white, just after the transmitting station opened (Holme Moss, maybe). But right up there is the first transatlantic image on Telstar.
And what about Mr. Bean cleaning his teeth in his mini. |

Every great part of the writing from previous series' was rolled into one fantastic episode. They really perfected it with that one. |
Re: Best moment on British Television
I agre about the Two Ronnies' "Four Candles" sketch, in fact nearly everything they did - especially Ronnie Barker.
I think perhaps the most memorable, and startling, moment of telly I ever saw was when Julian Clarey made his little comment about Norman Lamont. Actually I just missed the original as I was making a coffee but my husband rushed into the kitchen and said, "You'll never believe what Clarey's just said." When he told me I was gobsmacked (and so was Norman Lamont). :D |
Re: Best moment on British Television
If anyone remembers Whats My Line,, they will remember Gilbert Harding,,,
The man of steel, who was tough as nails..."Stiff upper lip brigade"known as the rudest man in television .................................................. ............................................. The time when he was on face to face ,he broke down in tears while talking about the death of his mother..YOU COULD HEAR A PIN DROP. All my family had a lump in their throats..It was just not concievable that this man had a heart..... |

I don't think I can, decently, put it on here. Let's just say it had homo-erotic content and was extremely vulgar. It nearly ruined Julian Clarey's career (and it made Norman Lamont's eyes water). |

Re: Best moment on British Television
The last series of Blackadder & the final moments of the last episode when they went 'over the top',a superb comedy series with a very poignant ending. Also Alan Bleasdales 'Boys from the blackstuff' in the early 80's.
The twin towers attack....hard to believe it was real life & lives were actually bieng lost. |
Re: Best moment on British Television
i think whe lee evans is on the telly!!
i cry with laughter all the way through it!:D better than half the rubbish on tv |
Re: Best moment on British Television
I was going to mention The Mighty Boosh, it's hilarious in an English eccentric Pythonesque kind of way but I don't think it quite beats The Royle Family.
*it's in the right thread now i think :D* |
