Can you imagine what this must be like?

BBC NEWS | World | Europe | Pole wakes up from 19-year coma

Just shows how fast change happens in our lives, but it takes something like this to illustrate just how fast we start to take things for granted. :)

Funny I was pondering something like that the other day on how things have changed in my short lifetime...no jokes please!! :D

Especially technically wise..records to CD's to MP3's and how camcorders, mobiles etc have reduced so much in size..

Rationing, hmmmm maybe introducing it for chocolate might help me

TM, HR, just imagine you'd wakened up after a 19-year coma and you noticed a certain something...how blissfully happy you'd be! You know what I'm talking about! ;)

1988- slip into a coma aged 23.

2007- come out of coma 19 years later.

'The good news is you've come out of a coma. The bad news is you've developed Parkinson's disease, and are considered middle aged.'

2007 (+ 10 minutes)- roll over, and go back to sleep.:D

Good job he is not in Accrington, as the Local Council would have been hounding him Council Tax for the last 19 years

Great isn't it? And I bet there'll be some people who look at this thread and think "I wonder what they're on about?" :D

Jan Grzebski. "What amazes me today is all these people who walk around with their mobile phones and never stop moaning," said Mr Grzebski.

"I've got nothing to complain about."
This statement said it all for me, long life and happiness to you and your wonderfull wife Mr Grzebski. Good article Tin Monkey thank's for sharing it.

Right first time, Kate, but I'll shut up about it now, as I know I do tend to go about it a bit too much to people who aren't bothered (just ask Mrs H!)

Yeh, you do .. makes you predictable like .. women like an air of mystery now and then .. ;):D

Thought the last statement from this Polish gentleman was very profound about everyone moaning all the time, suppose the more we have the more we have to moan about. Made me think.

Really nice that his wife cared for him and stuck by him over all those years, when there was no hope in sight. She must really love him (probably because he never bored her to tears by rabbiting on about stuff she wasn't interested in!) :D

It must have seemed weird to see people he knew, his family and friends, all aged by 19 years.

Would any of us like to become conscious again after 19 years in a coma.Thats a lot of your life gone to start with & as Garinda pointed out this bloke will soon be facing all the health worries old age brings about.Hes missed some of the best years a natural lifespan can offer & personally think life has dealt him a cruel hand.No-one knows what death is like & as far as we know(although his brain was obviously functioning) maybe he thought he was dead,if you know what i'm getting at.If i awoke after a 19 year coma i think i'd die(again) from the shock of waking up thinking i was already dead.

"Mr Grzebski, great news! While you were in your coma, the Russian occupation ended and Poland is now a free, democratic country. Standards of living have risen and the shops are full. Even better, Poland is now a member of the EU and we've arranged a new job for you in England in a place called Accrington...

...the only drawback is, you might bump into C'mon Stanley...Mr Grzebski?...Mr Grzebski?...wake up!"

What odds would I get on a Polish mayor being in charge in the next 10 years?

Re: Can you imagine what this must be like?

Havnt lost the plot its just that all that has changed for this poor chap will be advancing a lot faster as the years go on. He will have to basically learn how to fit in again and that will be a struggle for most let alone someone who has been out of touch for 19 years.

Struggle to think what he must think must be very weird, lovely of his wife to care for him for all those years, and at least he appreciates it.
