According to a report in the Daily Express 2/6/07 Richard and Judy column, Midlothian Council are lighting up Dalkeith High School at night even though it has been closed since 2003, a spokesman for the Council when asked by confused nearby residents stated, "it's to protect intruders from fall hazards, we have an obligation to do this under a common-law duty of care" talk about watering the mice this is not only costly but downright crazy.:confused:

on that basis they will be leaving the heating on in winter evenings to protect the dossers from hypothermia.;)

Sounds about right yet it might have been cheaper to pull it down or use it for illegal immigrants.

The thing that strikes me as amusing with a situation like this is, there will always be a lawyer to sue for them, and one to prosecute them, and another to defend them. So in conclusion I would advise Midlothian Council 'free of charge' to repeal this bye-law if possible.;)
