too darn hot

I know I should not moan but I am .... its too hot for me just cut the grass I now I have a burnt back ( totally my own fault) should have slapped on the sun cream:

We are just not used to hot weather are we ? I am now trying to find the fan's from last year:

anyone got any tips for keeping cool at night ;)

Re: too darn hot

Thank God I'm not the only one moaning - I really don't like this weather, it's way too light and too hot to sleep at night not to mention too noisy with the windows open. This weather sends the cat more loopy than he usually is - all that and no football - bring on autumn :)

Re: too darn hot

Think yourselves lucky... I am on nights and have to try to sleep during the day in this heat:)

I love the warm weather though and feel like I have more energy when it's warm. I'm sure that I wasn't meant to live in this country and would be far more suited to sunnier climes.:D

Re: too darn hot

If I can cool my feet the rest of me is happy. I have a little water spray to spray my ankles and a fan direct at my feet at night. Hot feet keep me awake and hot feet make me feel tired.

I dont want to appear smug - but the air conditioner I bought cheap in January works fine (I am smug really :) )

Re: too darn hot

To keep cool at night......wear cotton nightwear...have a tepid shower before turning in for the night.......fill a 2 litre drink bottle and put into the fridge, take this to bed and pop your feet on it during the night......if you can cool your feet the rest of you usually will stay cool.
Those are my tips for keeping cool......oh, I also take a moist face cloth with me to bed and moisten my limbs...this mimics perspiring and keeps you cool.

For those of you disturbed by the light......a blackout blind does the trick...or the cheap version is to wear the nightmasks that they give you on laong haul flights.

I'm enjoying the heat at the moment. It's the one time that the basement office comes into its own - it's always cool.

I love light nights, I wake up nice and early feeling refreshed.

A nice 25c, clear skies, low humidity, pleasant breeze, forcast thunderstorm for sat. then back to the warm and clear. I don't think I can complain.

I know, but I just have to do it .... brag, brag, brag ... :D It may be something to do with having to suffer thro' yet another gorgeous day. It may have something to do with the honey-garlic pork chops from the local Greek butcher, just aching to leap onto the bbq. We have done well with the weather tho'. As long as the wind holds from the North, or the North West it will be sunny and in the low 20s for at least until Tuesday. But it does look like we are in for a great summer ... and this no doubt will be followed by a great fall, always the most beautiful time of the year in this area, with all the colors of the Maple trees ... just like the illuminations, but without the hydro bill. And now, no doubt to everyone's delight, I will shut up:D:D:D

Re: too darn hot

I think the draft created by me wafting in and out to see if its raining is actually drying the clothes faster than the weather lol.

My mobile air con machine was only in operation for 2 days :( now back in the cupboard.
When it rains heavily like it has just done I lose my Sky TV signal

What a gorgeous day! Ahhh! Maybe a little rain tommorrow ... but we do need it. Not a lot, just enough.

Re: too darn hot

Seems like rain is everywhere right now.

Im in Aus.. we have been on really strict water restrictions for the past 6 years... dams down to 14% of their capacity. But last week, i had 3 feet of water in my front garden.. the whole area flooded from torrential rain and gale force winds.. had no electric for 4 days, which isnt nice in an all electric house. Dams are a little fuller, but not enough to remove restrictions yet... still more rain on the way though, and a lot to still run off from the surrounding hills and such... so heres hoping we wont be in drought conditions by the time summer comes around again!!

Kaz:cool:

No rain no wind and no sun so back to typical Scottish weather here. At least its cooler and easier to walk about in. :D As Thursday is the longest day I can then start looking forward to the creeping along to winter. :D
