Where does it say that he was holding the phone? I have a holder that will hold my phone and film whereever I drive without me even touching or looking at it.

Secondly, ANYONE travelling at that speed is concentrating 120% on what they are doing. I can speak from experience.

Judge for yourself Ian. Is he concentrating 120% on what he's doing or is he being a complete prat?

Total bad/dangeress driving.

Looks like his speedo is probably out a bit, I bet the true speed wouldnt of been 140.

Interested to know what car it was.

Apart from the speed, look at all the undertaking which people wouldn't be anticipating. I'm glad I wasn't on the road when he pulled this stunt.

Re: 140m.p.h.

most folk i would guess have broke the speed limit at some point- that though is irresponsible, stupid, n dangerous, anyone that thinks not should be banned as well.

I've touched 15o on the same piece of road. I'm trained to a pretty high level of driving though. I have UK car and bike licences and american licences to CDL (Commercial drivers licence) that lets me drive big rigs. Can anyone tell me this guys 2 major faults?

This morning on my way to work, got a little spooked listening to Wako Jacko's Thriller and thought there was a ghosty following me :D

Ok I was a tad late leaving home and I must have pasted all of a dozen cars on the M65 at 5.30am. Motorway speed limits should be variable depending on current road conditions.

I do drive a little over the limit on the motorway at times but I am usually well under the limit on 30mph roads in built up areas. The Isle Of Man almost have it right. No limit on some roads is daft but 20mph in all built up areas is a good idea. Is it the Isle of Man or Northern Ireland that has 20mph Home Zone's? I can't remember now, it must be old age setting in.

1. Driving on the hard shoulder to undertake cars.

2. Getting caught :D (and filming the evidence).

I don't see how the mobile phone video could stand up in court though.
I could with relative ease set up a signal generator in place of the speed sensor to make my speedo say whatever I wanted.
I might even have a play and record myself driving around Asda car park at 150mph :D

I would say fiddling about filming inside his car whilst driving has got to be one of them, that and the undertaking on the hard shoulder. What if someone in front of him had developed a problem and pulled onto the hard shoulder just as he was bombing up on the left?

Don't follow that, 140m.p.h is that not twice the speed limit?

The guy was driving a red Toyota MR2.

Re: 140m.p.h.

MR2 - wonder what year.

Unless its Highly moddified, and I dont mean stripes, a MR2 isnt really capable of hitting 140 @ 6KRPM not even red lining, (Clock had upto 8K or 9K RPM)

I have to agree though Speed isnt the biggest problem with this guy its the stupid / dangeress driving.

Got to admit though I dont stay at 70mph on Mway, who honestly does.

entwisi 13-06-2007 10:07

Re: 140m.p.h.

The old MR2 turbos were capable of 150 apparantly

Re Park yes its 2x speed limit, but "In teh right conditions" it is perfectly safe.
