Save or devour?

If you have something you've really looked forward to, what do you do, jump right in, or save it for a rainy day?

I only ask because I have a new book, called Michael Tolliver Lives. It's the latest, and final part, of the series of books written by Armistead Maupin, entitled Tales of the City, and I've waited eighteen long years to find out how it all ends.

I must have mentioned before that I love the books about life at Barbary Lane in San Fransisco, because one of our members, who lives in that part of the world, pm'd me to tell me of it's publication, the same day that I saw the review myself in the Sunday Times.

A week after ordering the book, from the very nice lady in Smith's, the book's in my possession, and I'm in a quandry. Do I have an early night, and probably finish it in one sitting, or should I just enjoy that I now have the final chapter to all these characters lives, and save reading it for my holiday in Zante.

Decisions, decisions.

Do you save things that you've looked forward to, or jump right in and enjoy them?

Well when I'm eating my tea I usually save the best thing til last hehe...
But then I think...what if I'm full and won't be able to finish the thing I've saved!!!! Yeah.... so I'm always in a pickle.... :(

Having waited that long, I would have started reading it before the wrapping paper reached the bin

Lol, I do that too. I thought it was only me that ate that weird way!

Start off with the least favourite veg, and save the best bit until last, which for me is always the meat.:D

I don't save anything for "best" anymore, I would start reading it now, you can pick up another book to read on your hols.

I have a cousin who still had things from her Christmas selection boxes at Easter. My brother and myself had usually scoffed all ours before our parent's got up on Christmas morning.

I can feel an early night coming on.:D

At one time I would have said save it and savour it but you never know what's round the next corner so enjoy it now.

I'm exactly the same where books are concerned Garinda.I love books and when I get a new one I'm in a quandary as to whether to start reading it straight away (and usually finish it in a day or two) or try to ration myself to a couple of chapters at a time but then I'm having to fight the urge to read more, knowing if I do it'll soon be gone.I've always got a book on the go and reading is my greatest pleasure.I read such a lot because I get through them so quickly.
Hope you enjoy your new book.:D
