Yep! Many times over the years but not lately.

It used to be a big Transit sized van with TV Detector van written on the side and a Belini Tosi aerial (before anyone asks it’s a direction finder aerial) on the roof.

I believe that these days it is an unmarked estate type car but it still has an aerial on the roof, although I have been told that they now use an internal aerial so they are not so easy to spot anymore.

In any case as the licensing authority has the address of each licensed premises and therefore have knowledge of unlicensed premises, they only hang around unlicensed premises to try and catch someone out.

Judging by the quality of most the programmes it must be a fallen angel.

Just to get back on topic. I get my license at my corner PayPoint shop.

The only reduction that is available to 'the folks who dont speak English' is if they are reg blind/severely sighted, aged 75 or over, or are aged 65 & over in warden controlled property of more than 4 dwellings. Exactly the same reductions as anyone who does speak english.

If they don't bother getting a lic, they'll soon find out that it's a requirement when they receive a court summons & a fine.

I would forefeit t.v. entirely if I was forced to pay any government fee.
I have yet to find cable t.v. worthy of the price. Using the rabbit ears, I get a dozen perfectly good channels.

I used to pay for my TV licence at the post office, but last year I did it over the phone...this year I guess I will pay online.
