Does this seem fair to you?
Man ordered to help ex-wife who spent her divorce cash - Times Online
Surely the woman should take account of her own bad decisions? |
Re: Does this seem fair to you?
No its clearly not fair.

Re: Does this seem fair to you?
From reading that article it sounds totally unfair. Why should he have to bail her out when it is clearly her own fault? He had already provided her with more than a decent settlement by all accounts.

Re: Does this seem fair to you?
Having read the article I have to say from what I have read it is wrong. They separated 30 years ago, he brought up their kids and she buggered off and lived a life of Riley.
So she's spent up, tough, they divorced and that should eb the end of it. I really hope I have missed something here otherwise I will get really annoyed at the waste of money for bringing this crap to court. |
Re: Does this seem fair to you?
I agree with you Willow.

Re: Does this seem fair to you?
How ridiculous.
I'd rather burn my house down, with all my money in it, than give that silly cow another single penny. |
Re: Does this seem fair to you?
Cases like this do sometimes set precedents, which would be of concern to anyone who has ever been divorced.
Once an agreement has been reached, that should be it. There shouldn't be any comeback years later. |
Re: Does this seem fair to you?
I thought that's what divorce settlements were meant to do - settle once and for all and sever all responsibility. The fact that this guy is doing well now and she made some bad investments should have nothing to do with it.

Re: Does this seem fair to you?
Astounding. Absolutely astounding. Perhaps this is one reason why less people are getting married? It seems that the institution of marriage is increasingly becoming a creature of legalities and pitfalls that has become far removed from its original purpose (whether you agree with the nature of that original purpose or not) and more akin to a monetary investment.
The points above are well made - a settlement is a settlement in my eyes, although im not a divorce lawyer! |
