Anybody any idea what the incident was at the bottom of Eagle Street this evening about 6.30pm
there were 2 fire engines, an ambulance and the police were stopping traffic

I know nothing of that incident hedman2003, but Eagle st is the busiest street in town. The juction roundabout with Paradise St has at least 2 'bumps' a week, these are not even newsworthy now. So far to my knowledge their have been no fatalities yet. It can only get worse as the new Health Centre and Scaitcliffe Buildings come on line.
The traffic at 'peak' periods at the Blackburn Road end is horrendous, as the drivers try to get off the Croft Street car park and into the main traffic flow, the planners do not seem to consider traffic flow when making the changes in the centre of town.

Just found this on the Fire Incident Site:

Incident
Flat

30th July 2007, 6:08pm
Incident number: 3209
Number of appliances: 3 Appiances
Address:
Blackburn Rd, Accrington
Fire involving first floor flat.
One male neighbour suffering effects of smoke
refused hospital treatment.
2 B.A....Hose reel. Vent unit

By fire severe to food.

By smoke moderate to room of origin.

Light by smoke to bedroom and hallway.

So more than likely it was that.

I do not know if this is still in the pipeline, no one has consulted us (the residents), having said that do this council ever? There was a rumour and some site testing was going on earlier in the year, but it must be on the back burner as there is nothing going on save the odd gipsy now and again.
