Accy Web blocked
 

Just spent a week in Guys hospital were they have the Palentine TV,internet and phone bedside service.. £2.90 for basic TV and they claim free internet access.
Anyone who has tried to use the internet access from this service will know how difficult it is to navigate when online(using a very small phone like keyboard blah blah) anyways I managed to get online but when I typed accy webs address it said this site was blocked!.. I could look at Lancs online but Accy Web was always blocked.. the reason?.. it was deemed an unsuitable site and had been blacklisted by Guys Hospital!. ha ha

WHY WOULD THEY BLACKLIST A SITE LIKE THIS? It doesn't make any sense.:confused:

Thats plain dumb!! How can a family site be deemed unsuitable!! Wonder if we have been blocked by other institutions??? :mad::eek::confused:

There where other sites blocked like Party Poker which I can understand.. but Accy Web?.. I'm sure it's no big deal and that this site has not been targeted as "unsuitable" but it just made me laugh.

Well spug says that why it could be blocked is because some of our members who live down there they might know the person who says yay or nay to which websites you can visit and thats why its blocked. He did name them but im not brave enough to name them. :D:D:D

wow.. dont you all just like to think the worse and get all insulted.. theres lots of reasons why sites are blocked ... one that happens a lot is if they have a chatroom..

but hey.. just go ahead and think the wors.. :)

Now would we? :rolleyes: Just seemed odd thats all. Even in the butchery house we might need Accy web to help our recovery though can see your point. :)

MSN out of the question as well then so I would be well stung. :(

Pretty sure msn and chat rooms are banned from the library computers.. last time I used a public one you wern't allowed to use any sort of chatroom.. hence why I thought maybe that.. Could have changed of course..

They might not know about lancsweb hence not blocked

It might be because there's a chatroom on here. That was the reason Accrington library used to give for blocking Accy Web, though I think I read a post saying it's changed now.

A week's a long time to be in Guy's. Normally in the clap clinic there, you're in and out the same day.:D

Yeah cheers Garinda.. hope there's no confusion here.. not the clap.. I think the chatroom suggestion could be right, I was in St Thomas a couple of months ago (the chatroom may not have been back on at that time) and had no problem viewing Accy Web

You've been round all the hospitals in London. I thought it was the Charing Cross Hospital that specialised in gender reassignment operations!

Just got to say thanks to you guys for the your good luck wishes. been in hosi for 11 weeks in the last 2 years and more to come, but it really is good wake up and go onto Accy web to see the latest news from up there.

Seriously, I hope you are soon well, and the next time you have to go in hospital they'll at least allow you access to Accy Web.

They say laughter is the best medecine, plus with some posts on here you might not need an anaesthetic.:D

I don't know the reason for Accy web being blocked by the Hospital,but most public access points block chatroom sites to prevent weirdo access and to prevent the casual Numpty hogging the computer all day.Thus preventing the computers use by other customers.

Mancie, try googling for an aanonymiser proxy. There are quite a few that run that hide teh site you are accessing.
