Register Of Electors 2008

I take it you all got your forms?
I did mine online at http://www.registerbyinternet.com/hyndburn
Says on the form "Remember if you do not need to maker any changes to the information on this form then registering by internet or freephone is not only the easiest method but also helps your council to save your money"
So I saved about 30p on the postage, gave my form back to them in the recycling bin which they will sell
Look forward to my reduction in my council tax next year

Mine was sent back in the postage paid envelope, so I saved on the electricity.:D

My PC was on anyway so didn't matter to me
Another point is, If I get RSI (repetitive strain injury) I'm gonna put a claim in to HBC as they contributed to it by asking me to do it by the internet :D

I think I'll wait until they visit me to collect the forms - that saves on postage and electricity. :D

Aren't the collecting staff on overtime plus a shoe leather allowance?

Ah, good point.

But they are on minimum wage and I promise I won't keep them talking.

I'm going to wait until the collectors come around .. only because friends of mine, who worked for the council, did this as overtime and nostalgic like to giving them extra work .. and they were not on minimum wage for this task.

They will arrive eventually, the odd thing is we only live round the corner and are last to get them! Unless the postman has delivered to wrong address, it won't be the first time that they have got Accy mixed up with Ossy!!

I don't think they come in the post Bernadette, I think they are hand delivered. Anyway I'm sure you'll get yours, they've got to start somewhere and finish somewhere I suppose.:)

Ours could be done on online as well. Did mine yesterday when i got the form. Thing is though the postage is pre paid on the envelope and they ask you to register online to save money but why when postage is pre paid on the envelope they've already paid for it so hows that going to save them money? Plus theyve paid for the envelope and also the freefone number for people to ring they've paid for that as well. So how can they save money?

I think (not 100% sure) that although it says postage prepaid the Post Office don't actually charge the company postage unless the envelope is used.

The trouble is that the Council has to make it as accessible for anyone and everyone so that we can all sign up in the way that we individually want to sign up.

Can you imagine the furore if some people were unable to sign up in the exact way that they personally wanted to? There'd be Irate of Accrington saying but I want to just phone up and I can't do that anymore, whilst Disgruntled of Great Harwood refuses to get on a bus to come into town so needs a postal form, and let's not even talk about Rattled of Rishton who thinks everything should be on the web and anyone who hasn't got a computer shouldn't even be allowed to vote.

:D

Good post,Gayle:D It must be a nightmare trying to please everybody.
You're right about the envelopes too. When a business sends out pre-paid envelopes, there is no charge to the business unless the customer uses the envelopes. The business will be billed afterwards for all the envelopes that have been used.
