Haven't watched it in ages but rest assured there will soon be one very happy and wealthy team appearing on BBC2, I will try and watch it tomorrow evening;)

Aren't these repeats? The money got up very high the last time it was on.

To be honest, the teams are pretty poor aren't they?

BTW Granny.... I was in Cleveleys myself tonight ;)

I used to watch it all the time and though there were some big winners I can't remember it ever being so much, though I could be wrong. I like Eggheads but that CJ gets right up my nose, have seen him on Fifteen To One and Beat The Nation and didn't like him then either!!:(

No they're not repeats, it's a new series. Apparently the show yesterday was it's 250th programme, and it's getting very exciting with the pot getting so large.

You can always tell if it's a repeat by keeping an eye on Judith's beads, and how plucked C.J.'s eyebrows are.;):D

It's a quiz, a team of five take on this team who are called The Eggheads. They are people who have been on all different quizzes and are experts, a bit like walking encyclopedias. The prize money starts at £1000 and goes up by same each time it isn't won, so it is a long time since they got beat!!:)

One of the Eggheads is Judith Keppel, the first person in the UK to win a million pounds on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire.

She's a cousin of Camilla Parker Bowles and they are both descended from Alice Keppel, who was the last and favourite mistress of Edward VII.

Re: egg heads,,,

Sounds like a lot of fun ... (so does Alice Keppel) ... but only a 1000 pounds? That seems pretty cheap. That's only about $2000. You can do a lot better on Jeopardy. Or even on Win Ben Stein's Money. Still, sounds like a good idea for a show. I wonder why it hasn't hit North America.

It isn't really about the money, it's the prestige of trying to win against five of the supposed brainiest people in Britain.

The Eggheads have had a long unbroken run, and the prize fund now stands at £53,000, which to regular fans of the show is an unprecedented amount, and it's getting very exciting.

I 'spose. Maybe I'm getting mercenary in my dotage:D And a 100 grand isn't all that bad of a payday. And the show is probably much better than crap like The Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune. I still watch Jeopardy every night, and somtimes Millionaire. After watching those, I don't feel guilty about tuning in to WWE, Smackdown or Raw:rolleyes:

Some of the challenging teams this week haven't stood a chance.

Yesterday's team, Brains and Beauty, may have had the looks, but would have struggled to come up with one brain between the five of them.

I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be the day when they lose.

I'm not so sure. I've seen them go unbeaten for weeks and when the series ends, the cash pot goes back to £1000 for the start of the new series.

It has never done that!

A series ends, and then they show repeats!

You've been tricked.

Trust me, that has never happened.

Sadly, I know.:D

It certainly did so in the earlier series. I remember that Dermot bloke saying so.
I actually stopped watching it about a year ago. Just like The Weakest Link, they showed so many of the shows and repeats that it battered me into unconciousness.

No, you're wrong.

Two series runs ended on 23 and 42 grand, then they showed repeats, then they started again, carrying on with the prize fund in the new run of programmes.

Sadly I've never missed watching one of the 261 programmes, and would go and throw eggs at the producer if they stole from the prize pot, as you think they did.

The repeats are very annoying. One series ends and then they start showing old runs the very next day. The Sunday Times Culture magazine tv listings is always bang on, and tells you if a programme is a repeat.

Either that, or as posted earlier, keep an eye on C.J.'s hair and Judith's beads...or that little mole on her lip.:D

It's like the Weakest Link. You have to keep an eye on Anne's ginger fright wig, and how lined her face is, to see if it's a repeat.:D

At last they were beaten, and it was so exciting!

If it wasn't going to be a team from Lancashire, then I these young lads from Brookes University Oxford, deserved it, and like they said the £75,000 will help pay their overdrafts off.

Bit off a come down on Monday, when the prize fund goes back down to a grand.
