so whats happened inside a year in your life?
 

only asking as it got me thinking last night...

this time last year (to the day) on a soaking wet sunday morning I was limbering up to take part in the great scottish run through the streets of glasgow and surrounding areas....:cool:
fast forward 1 year on and I am now gearing up for the iminent arrival of our first baby - something that certainley wasnt on the cards this time last year..:)

there have been other things happened but I am just highlighting that its more or less to the day for these 2 things...

lifes funny at times...:)

last year at this time we was planning to move back to spain, that was a definate! last november me grandaughter arrived on the scene, funny how yer circumstances change in it?:)

Its been a non event year for me - just hibernated a lot of the time.
I dont mind that much - enjoyed peace after a stormy time :)

This year we have had a visit from the Oz branch of the family...we must have been too hospitable, because they came last year too (only joking)......they wanted to tour Scotland and Ireland as well as catch up with family in Lancs.......and they had a great visit.....the weather was kind to them too.
My daughter succeeded in gaining a place at Uni - she starts in a couple of weeks. Her little boy started pre-school just after Easter......he absolutely loves it and hates the week-end when he can't go (how that will change when he gets a bit older)...his little sister will start pre-scool in a couple of weeks (hope she takes to it as easily as he did).
I became a pensioner in June of this year - though I still feel like an 18 year old....anyone know where I can get one from :)

My Ma becomes a cancer survivor at the end of this month - five years since her diagnosis and treatment.....I've got my fingers crossed as I say this...we can never say 'cured'.......oh and she will be 80 later this month.

So all in all quite an eventful year.

in the last year i've met a great friend who i would trust with my life, a very special friend who i can tell ANYTHING to, a friend that always makes me smile, he makes me feel confident about myself, right now i think i'd be lost without him.

in the last twelve months
the lady as been diagnosed with c.o.p.d
my brother diagnosed with cancer
and hi have taken semi retirement
so we can all enjoy life to the full
and i have found new friends unseen right here

Within the last 12 months

My neice and partner (soon to be husband) had a baby boy and named him Jack, her first baby.
My brother and his wife have adopted their third child, a baby boy and named him Jamie.
My son has graduated from Bolton university, my daughter has passed her G.C.S.E.'s and I have completed and passed the first year of my foundation degree.
A few days ago a very dear friend of ours passed away, he will be very sadly missed and forever in our hearts.

This time last year i had just got rid of my on-off partner of four years,my post natal depression dissapeared (no coincidence lol),i started seeing an accywebber,Jack wasnt saying any words, couldnt even walk (he is now playing footie and running away every time i say nappy change time and singing mika songs!),and i was happy with being a stay at home mum.........
Now-i am with a guy called Anthony and we are talking about getting married,Jack is strutting around like he owns the place,i am applying for jobs because im bored at home,i have an interview for stage 2 sign language course on Monday and i am planning my life and home around my future with Anthony and Jack.
BUT BEST OF ALL me and the wifey have been best friends for just over a year now (Donna who came to an accyweb meet with me)......................
i have told Anthony if he marries me-he has to marry my wifey too cos we come as a package.......typical bloke-he is quite pleased about this lmao!!!!

Since September 06 my grandson started at Salford University, my brother married for the first time (his partner of 35 years, he's 71 and she's 69), my eldest daughter set up her own accountancy business and I gave in my retirement notice (at last).

Thanks, Margaret, I fully intend to enjoy it. Just 4 more weeks to work (3 days a week so just 12 days) then I'm free! Yeeeehhhaaaaa!!! :D

Earlier this year two of my dearest friends moved abroad, but as they still call me at least once a day, it doesn't matter if they are in rainy Glasgow or sunny Gran Canaria.

This time last year I was getting ready to go with my mum to Greece, exactly as we are this year. I'm fatter than last year, but I'm blaming that on the drugs, and lack of mobility, and not my almighty, and still healthy, appetite.:D

I know I'm worse now than this time last year. Walking even a short distance is now sometimes a struggle, and I've had the occasional day when I couldn't dress myself because my muscles were too rigid to move. I hate the fact that I'm dependent on people, when I've always enjoyed living an independent life. Emotionally after a few wasted days feeling sorry for myself, I'm much more cheery, and am once again able to count my many and varied blessings.:)

My neice has just moved up to the senior school at Westholme, and my nephew has moved from Westholme to QEGS, and has one master who taught me..and my dad! They are the apples of my eye, and the best thing about moving back to Lancashire has been that I've been able to play a bigger part in their lives.

So, one year on, fatter, less tanned than last year...but happy.:)

Garinda, whatever your physical limitations are your spirit is as strong as ever. You always keep me interested and you sometimes make me laugh. I'm glad that's not changed. :)

Garinda, you have got the right attitude. I find a lot of your posts very interesting and then others make me curl up with laughter. I have spent some time looking at old threads to get myself acquainted with the site and have been thoroughly entertained with your posts. Keep your chin up and keep smiling:D

Like you Garinda, I seem to have gained some excess baggage round my middle......I would call it middle aged spread, but I am pretty sure that I won't live to be 120.
Like you, I do not over indulge myself....I eat healthy home cooked food. I can't remember the last time I had a chip.
I just have to accept myself the way I am....and anyway, anyone who judges me for the way I look is pretty shallow.
I also tell myself that there are plenty lying in plots up Dill Hall would love to have my voluptuous figure.

Do you think they will soon take me away for talking to myself? :)

Well you have asked,so here goes,12 months after having the larger paft of my Colon removed along with a 10cm or 4" cancerous tumor,' first tumor removed from colon 17 years ago', I found myself in the 'Cardiac Arrest Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital with a cancerous tumor in my left lung. This was removed along with a top lobe of myleft lung,it is now 9 months since and the cancer cells have moved into my right lung nesr the centre of the lung to near the bronchial tubes to operate. on the 28thAugust i had my first dose of chemotherapy,the reaction to the trauma of having picc lines into my arms from the wrist to very near the heart caused a slight stroke that makes typing rather difficult especially capital letters.Yesterday I had anelergect reaction to 'Tagaderm' a skin type dressing plaster that blocked my pores and kicked of blood poisoning,this embarked on a journey at a rate of knots up my arm towards the heart. 1 hour later in Royal Blackburn Hospital They managed to stabalise the situation, thus enabling me to impart this tale of woe to you members who have not yet fallen sleep. After blood test resultsI was allowed to go home at 8pm. Does any member have a better 12 month story or have I won first prize in the lottery of life? (D)

The last 12 months have been pretty good. Went to Australia and had a fantastic time, gave serious consideration to moving there permanently. Sparks moved in with me, so I'm having to learn to share my space again after living alone for 10 years, but I think I'm coping admirably..:D I have a new nephew 'Bob' and he's gorgeous......:)

I've moved house twice, once fron another area in to Accrington and the second to an enlarged family. My baby has finished junior school, ( this was a major milestone in my life's targets when I became a single parent.) and starts secondary school on Tuesday and all this before I'm 21 next week ;)

I think both of you deal with your illnesses with a great deal of grace - neither of which can be pleasant I'm sure.

This is one of the huge shining lights of this forum that it can keep people in touch with each other.

my year has been a bit fraught too went away late november , had a day up in edinborough in december, christmas, new year then bang felt unwell didn't quite know what was going on ....many visits & arguments at my doctors .........holiday in bulgaria in june ......hospital visits same week i came back....then diagnosed diabetic after all the too's & fro's still struggling with diet to control it but i WILL get there in the end . both ian & rindy have all my love & help if its needed as they both know , (mother hen again rindy ha ha )

Keep at it Mez....my Ma was diagnosed a couple of years ago and she still struggles with the diet.....but at least her sugars are more stable now.

This time last year was heavily pregnant and just starting maternity leave, I now have a very active little boy who's gorgeous and 1 next month, my daughter has done her first year at school and hates it:)though she always has a smile on her face when she comes out, she goes back on Wednesday yipee! I'm preparing myself for going back to work, a little bit anxious but I know I'll be ok when Robert has settled into nursery, all in all a good year that as passed very quickly, great thread GG.

thanks for your wishes im joining the weight watchers brigade....as our nette (jet) did she did brilliant on it & lost over 4 stone & still has in under control 3 years later (she's diabetic too) her specialist is well pleased with her, now iv'e been to see my doctor & dietition this morning & are both pleased im doing somthing by joining the w/w ..plus i go on the excerise bike every evening whilst watching telly .......but the rear end gets painful ha ha .........must carry on tho'

In the last year I have been made redundant, found a new job, split up with my bloke,saw my mum get married again, lost my stepdad to cancer a few weeks after the wedding, turned 40, and I have a new god daughter. ( All that lot has happened since January so there is still time for more yet ! )
