Amazing!!!
Every now and then I realise that I'm overusing a word or two. For a while it was 'fantastic' at the moment it's 'amazing'. The more I think about it the more concious I get about it and so I try hard not to use the word in question which only leads to me using another word too often.
I also say 'cool' and 'mate' far too often for a woman of my years.:D Anyone else got repetitive word syndrome? |
Re: Amazing!!!
Mine used to be darling.
But for the sake of my well being I soon dropped it on moving back to Ossy. The barman in the Black Dog seemed to have a problem with it, for some reason.:D |
Re: Amazing!!!
Mine are "actually" and "obviously".

Re: Amazing!!!
My mother overused 'anyhow' - I overuse 'anyway' - must be genetic :)

Re: Amazing!!!
I don't think that I overuse a particular word. We used to laugh at a girl at work though, she started most sentences with 'Im not being funny but.....'
As soon as we'd noticed it we couldn't help laughing every time she said it. Eventually we told her what we were laughing at and she never said it again! |

Re: Amazing!!!
I've been stuck with 'cool' since I spent a couple of weeks with the grandchildren at Easter. I'm sure my mates think I'm stupid but I can't seem to shake it off.

Hansel and Gretel.
How's this for a thread wander from a thread wander Gayle? :D |
Re: Amazing!!!
hm I say oh dear rather a lot... and often for no reason "oh dear"
and it make me sound like my old nan used to: Oh dear |
Re: Amazing!!!
:D That reminded me. At one time my late husband and I both had a habit of saying "Oh dear" for no reason at all so we decided we would try to avoid doing so and tell each other when we noticed the other saying it.
Then one day he dropped something and said "Oh dear!" which he followed by saying "Oh dear, I just said 'oh dear'". My reply to that was "Oh dear!" followed by "Oh dear, now I've just said 'oh dear'" :D |

Re: Amazing!!!
I'm Canadian; so I say "eh" all the time, probably even after I snore. But I have noticed that among the young people "like" seems to infect every sentence.
