We Did Try
 

We stopped off at the service station on our way to Las Americas today.......Sunday Bowling......can't miss that! Anyway, 'im indoors put ten euros of petrol into the car and went off to pay. I'd been sitting wondering why a couple of English women were standing at the door. It turned out that the door was locked. We went into the tapas bar next door and offered the ten euros to him but were told to wait. We hung around for another ten minutes and then cleared off!

I felt really guilty and did a quick poll at the bowling alley. The general opinion was that we should forget about it. My Scottish partner agrees. I did buy five euros worth of raffle tickets for a charity draw to salve my conscious though. Who is right?

I'd have done the same. There was nobody there to take your money, you didn't know how long they were going to be. Who knows how long you could have been standing there and why should you? If they want paying they need to have somebody present to take your money or they shouldn't expect to get it.

Not all Scots are inclined that way. Besides the prices might go up to make up for the loss of profit. To me that makes it self defeating.

We would have done, Rindy, had we been able to get inside. The guilt trip will be even worse should the headlines report such a thing tomorrow! I did look for cctv but didn't spot any.........I'm hoping that the Guardia Civil doesn't knock on my door soon!
