No excuse

I was driving along Eastgate this afternoon and as I passed three young boys (two of them on bikes) one of them threw something at my car so hard that I'm still not sure how they didn't break my window. It made a noise on the window like they had shot it. At the lights I turned left and made my way to the parking spaces behind them, jumped out of the car and asked them what the hell they thought they were doing. The two older boys on the bikes both said that it wasn't them, that it was the younger boy. They also said that it wasn't his fault because he has ADHD. I told them that he has no excuse for throwing something at my car. After a bit of an argument with them I told them that I was still waiting for an apology which I got. They then decided that it was because he hadn't taken his medication to which I suggested they take him home to his parents. One of the older boys said to the younger boy "Go home and take your f******* medication" to which i then told him off for swearing, he then said sorry.
I know what children with ADHD are like, I have worked with some, but I don't believe that there is any excuse for this sort of behaviour or for swearing.

I'd have got their names and addresses if poss or if not rung the police there and then. They are basically thugs and if allowed to get away with this type of thing will move on to bigger, more destructive " accidents" !

Thin end of the wedge, there is a syndrome to explain all bad behaviour it seems.
It's the additives in food you know!:p

Sorry meant to add,how would you go about detaining 3 lads without incurring the wrath of the law.Would they have waited meekly whilst you summoned help?
Would you have had to hold onto one of them(again a bit dicey in this PC world).
I honestly don't know what we are supposed to do!

.

I wouldn't even attempt to detain them.

I did however ask which school he went to, I'm reasonably sure he gave the correct school.
When I asked him for his name one of the older boys told me a name but the younger one said no it's not.
What they didn't know is that I work in a secondary school that has close links to primary schools, it wouldn't be difficult to find out.

What would the police do? Would they even turn up?

Sorry but I'm feeling very cynical lately.

I think its too easy for people with "bad behaviour" to be labelled with ADHD, I come into contact with a lot of these children and their parents and some of it is down to bad parenting, some of these children haven't been given any discipline at all and I regularly witness the parents effing and jeffing at them, great eh! I think you did the right thing Casper at least next time they may think twice.

That's exactly what I am hoping for, that they will realise that not everyone will drive off because they are worried about confronting them. After all I could have been a 6ft male person with muscles rather than a 5ft 2 female without.
