How would you feel if you found out that your friend has just offered his/her teenage daughter for sale on the internet?

I thought THIS SITE was a wind-up at first but looking in-depth, I come away with the horror that it is indeed a valid site that is offering girls as young as 14years of age as brides in America.

What sort of parent would do such a thing????:mad::mad::mad:

Read the FAQ's and About Us sections then the link to laws in various states;

New Hampshire: A female between the age of 13 and 17 years and a male between the age of 14 and 17 years can be married only with the permission of their parent (guardian) and a waiver. A female below the age of 13 and a male below the age of 14 are not allowed to marry under any conditions. If both parties are nonresidents of NH and are below the age of 18 they cannot be married in NH under any conditions.

That is disgusting!!!!

Could you imagine putting your 14yr old daughter up for sale for $24,995. Did you see some of them descriptions 'a bit fiery', 'all the kids her age are kids she wants an adult' well they would be they are 15 not 30 year old men are even 60 year old!!!

Dont think it can be done over here - you have to be 16 to get married with parental consent.

It's a spoof, but unfortunately the marriage laws are not. Kids as young as 13 can legally marry in some US states as LancsDave says. :eek:

:D I know plenty of people from Utah who are equally as horrified as you at that. Those people are breaking the law and the ones who practice 'plural marriage' are also breaking the law. They live in their own very confined communities. I think there are some in Arizona. I do know some moved down to Mexico to avoid the US laws and they had colonies there.

And before anyone calls them Mormons I'd also like to explain that they may call themselves that but they are not part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which has its HQ in Salt Lake City. Any LDS member who tried it would be excommunicated. These are offshoots who have formed churches of their own. :)

I would have been very surprised if the majority of people anywhere were not horrified about this. I did watch something about it on TV ages ago and they were very hostile to anybody who wasn't one of their own kind entering their towns.

That is probably because the father's want to keep marrying their daughters and even worse their mothers who are also married to him allow it to happen!!!
