That is very interesting, any idea when it is supposed to happen?

Sounds good in theory but will it happen in practice. Too often in the past there have been ideas and plans that have sadly gone south for the winter. If it works then it will boost the town but somehow I personally think it wont happen for a few years yet.

Or will they bring in some more pot plants? ................ Hang on a mo.............. How long ago was this scheme put forward? Maybe the pot plants are the master plan!

tut tut more mess ...more confusion when will it end, would love to see proper bus station near the railway station, i did think this might have happened therefore giving us a pedestrian only town center shopping area.

Yes, it's about time we had a proper bus station instead of the bus streets.

Proberly was and they spent that much on the consultation there was no money left to decorate the bland plant pots.

Putting the bus station near the railway station would have anger from the shoppers so why not a buss that ferries people to and from the station?

Those pots aren't so bland now the nasturtiums have dangled over the sides. ;)

Bus station should have been sorted out before that Wilkinson's block was built, not vice versa.

Now I know what those plants are. Thing is though will the pots not be bare black lumps in the winter?

I think the best plan for the town centre would be to erect a border fence with armed guards to keep the chavs out. That would brighten up the town centre no end :D

Can imagine some councilors and their pals stood in there undies in those pots.
What a laugh it would be though. :D Personally I would rather get some spray paint out and "joyed" em up a tad. :D

I had a dig around on the URBED website and came up with the following....

http://www.urbed.coop/journal_docs/S...0July%2007.pdf

Sounds like most of the ideas that have been discussed here at one time or another are finally percolating upwards. whether these ideas will ever see the light of day as concrete developments remains to be seen.
