I'm Out to Grass

I've just had my last day at work. After a lunch and 2 enormous glasses of wine I staggered back into the office to gather a huge mound of cards, a dozen or so presents, 3 plants, 2 beautiful bouquets, a load of money and M & S vouchers and god knows how many bottles of wine. Daughter ferried me home, which is just as well as no way could I have driven.

So, that's it. I'm now a Senor Citizen and free to do what ever I want - when ever I want. Ooh, it feels good! :)

Westender, enjoy your well earned retirement....and it is true...before long you will wonder how you found time to go out to work.
It will be 5 years tomorrow since I retired....I loved my work, but I can't say I have missed it much.

Best of luck West Ender, I hope you engoy and have a long retirement.and a happy sickness free one. I have 75 day's to go before my 65th abirthday to officially retire, although Retirement was forced upon me, that is as far as manual labour is concerned. It does not exclude one from partaking in trying to create emoloyment for those 'fit' for it.Whatever you decide to do with your time is now in your own hands that is 'retirement' "keep posting"

Re: I'm Out to Grass

You will miss your work colleagues at first but rest assured that loss wears off -just recall what they are still having to put up with while you are lounging ,resting, and deciding how you are going to occupy your day -bliss.
Whenever I drive past the building where my former colleagues still slave daily - I always say 'poor sods'

Even though I retired early at age 51, family committments (granny duties and needs of an aged parent) kept me over occupied for the first 5 or 6 years of my (so called) retirement.

After that I did feel that I was no longer a useful member of society.
That 'guilt' wears off too :D

My Mother in law took early retirement at the end of August. She's busy every day and wondering how she ever managed to fit work in. She's loving it!
