I dont smoke and must admit I hate seeing drivers smoking if they have children in the car, dont like fags being thrown out of the window and I suppose you could say they aren't concentrating on their driving but I feel its really just have a go at the smokers time. I mean drivers whether they smoke or not dont always drive with two hands on the wheel do they. I also wouldn't hold my breath about smokers getting done as they haven't managed to police the mobile phone and driving and frankly I think that thats worse.

I have just watched a news story on this and it ISN'T actually a ban on smoking whilst driving, along with other things it is an inclusion in the highway code to give the police powers to stop someone if they feel they are driving without due care and attention..

Don't think any copper will stop someone for having a fag but may well do if they are flying down the motorway at 70 miles an hour with both hands off the wheel whilst trying to light one!!!

i think the entireity centers around
drivers being distracted by anything
nagging passengers included

If you look 'behind' the reason, In my humble opinion ,a 'smoking' driver is more likely to suffer a fit of coughing, thus bringing about lack of care in driving. It would seem to me to be one way of eliminating this senario, as recently a tragic accident nearly wiped a family out, when a heavy goods vehicle ran into a car, Th,ere was I think only one small child survived the accident.

Silly really.

As stated, where does it then go to.

No, Eating, Drinking, Picking, Make up sorting, Radio tuning, ect

Is a Tom Tom a Distraction?

I feel ladys should be made to cover up, cause in summer that seems to be my biggest distraction.;):D

I never use my car radio, never smoke whilst driving, switch off my phone, don't own a Satnav, and above all
tell any passengers not to talk
but then I never drive more than 10 miles anywhere :D

the next thing will be not to have kids under a certain age in the car because they are one of the biggest distraction imo..agree nanny state yet again ..
