Re: tobacco sales
Do shops always check ID, I dont think so because the young teenagers manage to get fags even though they aren't 16, dont think this will make any difference.
|
Re: tobacco sales
kids can get beer, so getting fags wont be as hard.
funny thing today though.....there wasnt a crowd of kids outside the shop:rolleyes: |
Re: tobacco sales
also daft thing is its still legal to
smoke at 16 but you cant buy em whats that all about ? |
Re: tobacco sales
I don't think there has ever been a legal age where you couldn't smoke, merely an age at which you could buy them.
Of course we can rely on all shopkeepers to stick to the law anyway regardless of how old they look....... NOT |
Re: tobacco sales
Another waste of money, why don't they make some sensible changes to the law? Non of us are against the principle but I think we all know it won't make a jot of difference.

Re: tobacco sales
Dosnt matter what they say or do the government is not going to push to hard because of the cash it makes from tobacco. Ok they make the purchase illegal to under 18's but not illegal to smpke as they are the next generation of coffer fillers so they dont want to discourage them to much. its all smoke n lights same as with booze.
|
Re: tobacco sales
another stupid rule, to me ban em breeds i'm gonna smoke so stuff em mentality,as with drink during prohibition, its good to discourage the young from smoking, but this is "Bloody Stupid".:(
|
Re: tobacco sales
Stupid is an apt description of this farse. One day they might get something right but somehow I dont think it will be in my lifetime. :(

Re: tobacco sales
I feel sorry for those who leave school, work full time and are now under the age limit to buy and enjoy a ciggie after a hard days graft !

More importantly it is establishing a precedent for when the government decides that it will be 21 and over to buy booze and drink in licensed premises. Or it might be 21 to be able to drive. Or a cut off at the other end of the age range – say 70. |
Re: tobacco sales
You can die for your country, but you can't buy a ciggi to ease your passing, smoke and be happy if your going to get cancer, you'll get it whether you smoke or not, i'm dying proof of it. :D:D:D
