Hairdreseer At Royal Blackburn
Was at the hospital today and noticed that one of the units is going to be a hairdressers. Think this is a good idea for the patients who are able to make use of such a facility. I always find that a trip to the hairdressers lifts my spirits. I have never seen one in a hospital before and was wondering what everybody else thought of the idea.

Great idea for those who are able to make use of it. One thing I hate when in hospital is having manky horrible hair.

I think it's a good idea, and will hopefully help lift the spirits of thosee patients who are in for a while. It would be nice to think that the hairdressers will also visit the wards, for those people who can't make it to the salon.
I wonder if this idea will catch on? What next? Pub? Travel agents? Massage parlour? :D |
Re: Hairdreseer At Royal Blackburn
When i went to preston outpatients there is a hairdressers in there and a clothes shop and cafe. I think its a good idea. When mum was in burnley there was a hairdresser who came round the wards once a week. She liked that it was someone different she looked at it as someone different to talk to from friends and family that went and visited her. There was one in Rossendale as well. I cant remember about Fairfield if there was one that went in there. You had to book she came round one day and then came back and did your hair a couple of days later.

I wonder if this means the barber, who goes round giving people Brazilians before their operations, has been laid off?

Re: Hairdreseer At Royal Blackburn
I remember us having a hairdresser who used to come round and do the long-stay elderly patient's hair but this was many moons ago. I reckon that the barber was probably given the chop years ago and paitents coming in for operations probably have to shave themselves or the nurses have to do it (I know that we always had to shave the women).

I think that a hairdresser in the hospital is a fabulous idea. Lots of people feel uplifted when they've had their hair done. I remember just before I had my Caesarean section, the midwife came in brandishing a lady razor, which was a man's razor with a pink handle. She said, 'Do you want your husband to shave you or shall I?' I couldn't answer quick enough 'You do it please':D Who would entrust this job to a fella? I'd probably have ended up with I woz ere shaved into it or something.:D |
