Attacker Walks Free

An attacker who left a 96-year-old war veteran blind in one eye after attacking him on a packed tram has been given a three year supervision order. The attack was caught on CCTV and British Transport Police are said to be "disappointed " with the outcome of the trial. I find things like this hard to believe and was just wondering what other people thought about the Sentence!!!!

GBH, for that’s what it was, carries a term in prison. Even if the charge were reduced to ABH it would still attract a custodial sentence.

It would appear that sentences these days are dished out with regard to how full the prisons are. And it was only the other day that it was reported on the news that there were only a handful of places left in prisons and police cells.

i agree with you j/b but lets face it the reason no one is being sent down ...is because THE PRISONS ARE FULL ....disgraceful!!!!

Much obliged to shillelagh for the PM pointing out that the old guy would only have been 3 or 4 when WWI was happening. My error I had intended to put WWII.

Yet another farce of a sentence. Caught in the act on CCTV, partially blinds this old man. I think the Scales of Justice are in need of recalibration. :mad:

Well done though to the two school children who chased him, and then gave evidence against the scum.

Pity the law doesn't have the same moral fibre as those two kids.

What an abomination! This cowardly little creep ought not to see the light of day for many years to come. Honestly, I don't see the point of having all of those CCTV cameras around. Britain must now be the most surveiled country in the world.....yet what good does it do you if the perps keep getting away with their criminal activities?
